Yesterday I took my kitties to the vet for a Pre-Moving check up. (I'm moving from Pittsburgh, to Chicago) They got their 1 year vaccinations as well. I brought them home and the one cat wouldn't come near me. She's better this morning, but you would have thought I had done some horribly traumatic thing to her. Every time I picked her up or pet her she would meow pitifully and hide from me. Is this a reaction to the vaccines or a reaction to the trip to the vet?

The Vet (and others) have recommended that I take the kitties on longish rides around town to get them used to the car, but I am concerned that if one short trip to the vet and a brief 10 minute stint in the car caused this much stress in my little girl, will more trips just add more stress? Or will it actually make the long one easier on her?

I'm moving on tuesday so I don't have a ton of time (I've been out of town or I would have started this earlier). Is there anything else I can do to make this long move easier on them? The vet said sedatives were a bad idea, any other suggestions?
