I've seen a few list or ideas like this - not sure which ones are reputable or if I should. I feel very strongly that each of us should do something to help support our troops in their bid to help put an end to terrorisms and the tyrannt that has made people too afraid to speak thier mind.

I can't fight - but I can love - anyone a foster parent for a serviceman or woman?

OMG! I was just checking my thread on this very topic, in Feline SOS:
http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58545, entitled "Time running out for pets of deployed military". I wish that the President would actively encourage patriotic Americans to help out by fostering a military pet or two. If at least 1/3 of everyone who has a yellow ribbon on their car would sponsor or foster a military pet, the problem would be greatly reduced if not eliminated!
Come on, America!!

i am a minnesota national gaurd medic and will be deploying in september, Most of the people in my unit are part of a family and will have no problems with there pet but a few people have had a hard time finding a home for their loved pets.
The question is: do you give your pet away or do you foster them? Will you lose your bond with that pet?
Some members of local churches are finding homes for some of these pets and if you hear of a unit deploying near you just call them up if you have room for a new friend and ask around. Most of these people are willing and able to pay for thier pet. These animals are being uprooted and need loving homes.
Thank you to all those willing to help!
