Ok, first of all:
My kitten is a little piggy when it comes to dry food. She just eats and eats and eats! I see two problems however:
1) She is growing, but she's really spindly and I feel like she's still underweight, even though she's getting taller and longer. I can't like SEE her bones, but I can feel them easily. At 4 months, how much SHOULD she weigh even? We're going to the vet next week...since she's eating, playing and using her LB and is just her normal self, I'm not worried about this being an emergency, but it is kind of a concern. I just want to know what it might be so that I can get myself informed and be prepared.
2) She just stopped eating her wet food. She was never really huge on it and would only eat it once or twice a day, but now she's not eating it at all...What could this mean? Is she ok? Leo doesn't eat wet food at all either.

Also, I wanted to start feeding Evo, but it's at the absolute TOP of my budget. Is there any slightly less expensive dry food I could feed my babies that would be very nutritous? I'd like to put down about 20-25 a month on dry food, ideally. Right now, the 10lb bags of Nutro are lasting us about 6 weeks. The Nutro is all right, but I want to feed better, I think.

Buffy's the same way: she eats like a tank, yet I can still feel her ribs (but can't see them, which means she's at a good weight). She just has a faster metabolism, lol

Another food you can try is California Natural. I'm feeding that right now and both cats are doing well on it. I bought Innova on Tuesday and they aren't eating it as much, and I'm realizing just how little I'm spending on California Natural. In Canadian funds, the 8 pound bag of Cal Natural goes for $21, while the 4 pound bag goes for $12 (in America, I think that'd be $9 for 4 pounds and $15 or $16 for 8 pounds). The 6 pound bag of Innova went for $20. I'm going to be returning the Innova (I didn't open the bag, they gave me some free samples to try first) and will return to California Natural.

Mine won't eat wet food either. I give them dry kibbles all day with some cat milk in the morning and the odd bit of chicken just to ensure they're getting enough moisture. As long as they're drinking anough water I wouldn't worry

have you had your kitten checked for worms, or has she been wormed lately? that could possibly be the reason why shes eating alot on not gaining much weight. if she has quite a round belly it could be worms (most likely roundworms). this is very common, espescially (sp?lol) in kittens and puppies. addressing your question about how much she should weigh at 4 mo. is depending on what kind of cat she is. one of my cats (i have 13, and by the way, i'm a vet tech) is very small and she is 3. she weighs about6-7 lbs. one of my other cats is even smaller, she weighs about 4-5 lbs. she is also 3. then one of my biggest cats who is 12 weighs about 14-15lbs. possible foods to try may be purina kitten chow aor hills science diet kitten formula. oh and by the way, alot of cats don't like canned or wet food, i don't think this is something to worry about.

Well, she was wormed in late June and was checked again 3 weeks ago, so I don't think that's the case. Also, her belly isn't really round. We've just finished off treating coccidia, so my vet thinks that, even though her third and final test was negative (she had 3 nagatives), my vet thinks it still could have slowed her weight gain. She's eating Nutro kitten right now, supplemented with some baked chicken breast every day for extra protein.

W have teh adult on California Natural now..he loves it!

How old is she? 4-5 month olds go through a stage where they're rapidly growing taller and longer but don't gain weight as quickly. They're just like teenage boys who get long and gangly before they fill out.
