I also have 5 1/2 week old kittens. Last week I noticed the pee on the floor always in the same corner so I went out and bought a small litter box and filled it with some natural kitty litter about 3 to 4 inches deep. We showed each of them the box a few times so that they would know that it was there and now all of them are using the litter box. It didn't take much effort on our part and maybe we just got lucky but I think they were attracted to the box because it is in their nature to dig out a spot to go. We used the natural kitty litter so it wouldn't harm them if they decided to taste it.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!!

When my sister fostered a litter of kittens (that's where I got Izzie), she confined the kittens in a very large appliance box while she was at work. She also placed a small aluminum baking pan filled with litter into the box. This, I believe, helped the kittens to discovered the litter faster. If you do this, you may also want to place a small about of feces in the litter pan so they associate the litter with the place to "go". I think my sister called Walmart and asked them if they have any large boxes they could have.

i have four wk old kittens and what i did was place a box small enough for them to get in and out of right next to mommas litter box....then the first night i would place each kitten in the box and they would just stand there and dig a bit...a cpl would taste the litter and it was the clay litter but they learned quickly how nasty it tasted so they stopped that really quick
the second night i took a bit of mommas "used" litter and put it in their litter box and next thing i know all the kittens are using the litter now
hope this helps

I have never had kittens so I don't know but doesn't the mother cat show them where to go to the bathroom?
