One of the things I'd get is some books to read.
Another thing that I'd get is probably some canned stuff, too....I have a grill, so heating stuff up won't be a problem.

Am I doing this right?

hey!! just thought of something!! My gas stove doesn't need electricity to cook!! (No electic igniter). So, if this would happen in the winter, I could cook and stay warm!!

Here... or There... Hmmm
Ditto with my house

I would get together gallons of water, to drink, cook with, and flush the toilet with!!! The pumps don't always work if the electric it out all over!!!!! I would get lots of batteries to run small radios or little tv we have, I would also stock up on canned goods and extra batteries for kitters laser light!! SHe might as well keep me busy with nothing else to do!!!

Not much of a problem!
I live in an island country.
BUT, I'll probably buy loads of medicine, mosquito repellants, a tool kit, good flashlight with dozens of spare batteries, and the reliable swiss knife. Maybe even a tent. Then close the house, get me and the gang into a jeep (with an extra gasoline tank) and drive to a village by the sea.
I think watching the "Survivor" series wasn't a waste of time.

Under the cats, mostly.
Ok for the week.... I would call my friends and family, to see that they were ok for the week, if not they'd come stay with me. I would buy in enough food for about a fortnight (just to be on the safe side) and be sure that the stock of candles was good enough. I would also put by lots of bottled water, because I like to make sure that that's taken care of too. We cook on a gas stove, so at least we can cook if we have a ligher. Batteries are a must. I would make sure that there is a fully functional first aid box, because with no lights, someone is bound to get hurt. Probably me.

I usually have all of these things around me all the time anyway, so I'm going to take it easy for a bit heehee!
