Hi guys,

My girl Cassie does the cutest things sometimes. But I don't know why she does them!

For example, she rolls around like Madonna whenever we get home. Behaviorists say she is inviting us to play, but she's not all that playful. Sometimes, but not all the time.

Then the other night, she was done being aggravated by Napoleon (our little boy cat) and she gets into her box (we call it "home base" because she runs there for a comfort zone
), and starts rolling around so much, I thought she was going to do backflips!

What does that generally mean though? Is it a happiness thing? Does anyone have a clue? Thanks!

I'd like to know too. Willow does this, but only to dad (that little suck-up), yet when he tries to play with her, she gets up and walks away. She always rolls around his feet, flopping around like a drunken fool. She seems to like it best when he's wearing his shoes. Hmmm...

Aussie dog, that is HILARIOUS. Cassie likes to roll around on Charlie's flip flops (which believe me, considering where *he* walks, NO ONE wants to go near them, much less roll on them LOL).

Any takers?

From what I've heard and read, it is a sign of acceptance, in a sort. They are showing you their bellies to say they trust you. Also, they are rubbing their scent around. It can also be a sign of playfulness. I might be wrong, but that's what I've heard and/or read.

Both of mine do that as well. I always saw it as more of a sign like look how happy and cute I am, rather than an invitation to play. They jump up as soon as I go to play with them.

Cassie does that too, jumps up when I go near her when she does that. Sometimes she'll roll and then just sit there, spread eagle and on her back. She can be so freaking cute sometimes, it kills me.

I think it can differ with different cats... Billy and CJ and Mirah and Annie are all like you described, but my outside kitty, Biffy, is different. When he does that, he wants to play. I guess it can vary.

P.S. I LOVE your cat's name!

I meant because my name is Cassie, too!
I like it!

Napoleon Dynamite! That's HILARIOUS! here I thought I was the only one who watched that mind-numbing movie! LOL!

Nahhh... there are actually a lot of people here on TCS that watched it. Most thought it was the stupidest movie ever, and it was, but I thought it was funny!

I realized your name was Cassie after I submitted my post
. My name is Taryn, for the record
. Cassie (the cat) gets lots of compliments not only on her name (the vet says she "looks" like a Cassie, which I interpret to mean so adorable you want to hug her to a pulp!! :p )...she is a beautiful, aloof, uniquely colored calico (her face is a perfect black, brown, white combination) who just looks like she was made for television commercials.

Napoleon is a psycho kitty, a boy in his "terrible twos" who looks like a mini-Bengal tiger. He chirps and coos to Cassie a lot, and she's like "I'm the star of the show, OK?" LOL

I could not STAND Napoleon Dynamite, the movie, when I first saw it. I was kind of like...wha.....???? Then I watched it again, and I "got it!" We named him Napoleon because when he runs, he's like a stick of dynamite.
