Does anyone have a good explanation for what exactly purpose this serves? You know what I'm talking about, when they're preparing to pounce and then they do this little "butt wiggle"

The best we can come up with is that they're sort of tensing their hindquarters so that they can go SPROING! at their target the better. But I've never seen any but domestic cats do it.

No idea, but on a three month old kitten it's one of the cutest things I've ever seen

Foley does it too - its like he cant decide which back foot to lead off with

It Does serve as a "Heads up, Im pouncing" indicator for my feet if I happen to see him watching me

I think it's the cutest thing ever. It's like they're winding up springs in their legs before pouncing!! If you were a mouse and were standing in fright, wouldn't you be a little distracted while witnessing such a cute wiggle? I think it's a tactic to catch Mr. Mouse. No, seriously, I have no idea why they do it.

I really don't know either than it could be prey driven, but it sure is cute to watch.
