Lately, I've noticed that neither one of my cats is too fond of covering up their business after they use the litter box
.

I've read on here before that not covering their business with litter is a sign that they are establishing dominance. By NEITHER of the girls are covering with litter, does this mean that they are both wanting to be the alpha cat?

Are there any things that I can do to ensure that Eponine (the older of the two) remains the alpha cat or should I let things continue to develop naturally?

Amy, I'm having that litterbox war with 3 of mine!!! Everyone wants to be the alpha (except Diddy). Sui follows me around as I scoop, pooping and peeing in every box that I scoop
. Every now and then I go into the litterbox room and bury the "territory markers" with the scoop. I'd say to let the alpha cat spot be determined by letting the girls work things out. Since there's only two of them and they get along---maybe they can both be "alpha's".

Thanks Kelly
Sounds like you have your hands full with your crew! Sweet little Diddy

Yeah, I guess they'll have to duke it out for themselves. Cosy definitely has the dominant purrsonality (she's a spitfire), but Eponine is the older one and she is so timid, I'm really proud when I see her taking control!

Could be as you described in the OP...however, there's nothing you can do or should do to influence which cat is dominant. You'll REALLY confuse them if you try!!

Petunia (RIP) always did that for Much. Always went in right after.

Now no one wants to. Equality.
