Hi, it is not quite 5am and this morning one of jaspers eyes is red and weeping a clear fluid
. The other eye looks kind of red too but isn't weeping any fluid at the moment. My question is this, do cats get pink eye? I can't call my vet until 8 am this morning and I am wondering if I should take Tia in also. I know that pink eye in humans is VERY contageous and I am thinking if it is pink eye, Tia will have it also if she doesn't already.
Anyone have any information on this while I wait for my vet to open? Jasper doesn't seem to be too unhappy but a vet visit is in store for him today and maybe for Tia as well, just hard for me because hubby has to go to work and can't help me take them. Thanks

Cats DEFINITELY get pink eye. Abby had it when we got her from the shelter. The vet gave us ointment to put on her eye.

Cats can definitely get pink eye. Katie has had it several times. I can't remember the name of the ointment the vet gave us, but I was supposed to apply twice daily and the pink eye cleared up quickly.

Thanks for the info everyone. I am taking them both to the vet's this morning at 10:45. I hope that that is what it is and not a scratched eye
, but since both of his eyes look red and tia has some dry stuff in the corners of HER eyes I hope that's all it is. Now all I have to do is sit and worry till then.

Well, we just got back. It is NOT pink eye. Jasper has an upper resp. infection and conjectitus. He got an antibiotic shot and some pills. Tia is fine, she got her second set of shots.

Conjunctivitis IS "pink eye". Same thing in cats. Human pink eye is different.
