A friend of mine just got back from looking at a kittie at a breeder. shes getting him
YAY! Well hes not a kitten, but an adult. Alter Preimership..anyways she asked if the litter they were useing was feline pine, as it looked like it. And nope it was Wood Stove Pellets......the kind you use in the wood burning stove... 3 bucks for a 40lb bag! anyone every tried it?

I use Yesterdays news so the texture in theory shouldnt be any worse i may have to pick up a bag and see how it does with odor control...hmm..

I know that some people use it for their guinea pigs as bedding. I don't know if this applies for cats, but one thing they do say is that you have to be careful which pellets you get. Some of them are made into pellets with a glue like substance, which when turned into dust might be inhaled by you and the cat. Others are just compressed together. I've never used them because they sound like a dusty alternative, but I guess they'd act simularly to feline pine.

We were using Feline Pine, had no real issues with it except that Narsil didn't like it much (apparently they both approve of WBCL, at that price they should!) but anyway, I told the hubby that I wonder if where they got the idea for Feline Pine was from some people using just wood stove pellets? They're hard to find here, a bit more common up north I think. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes!

It's kinda like the WBCL, I've heard of folks using chicken feed (layer crumbles) for kitty litter and I SWEAR that the WBCL looks and smells EXACTLY like chicken feed. At about a tenth the price, I may try it (layer crumbles) just to see.

The babiy persians do right now, because thats what they used...but even they seem to prefer the yesterdays news...more fun to dig in maybe? LOL..ah well I am deep cleaning a few boxes today before work..so i am gonna try my wood stove pellets

They are easy easy to find up here..LOL especailly come ooohhh..sept or so lol.

I am sampling the wood stuff in one box.. i currently use chn feed , works well but the dog likes to eat it..I also thought 4-8 bucks a month would be kewl.. vs 7-15 now and way better than clay at about 45 a month

I think I'm going to try the layer crumbles in a box and see what I think of it. I think I can get a 50# bag for about 10 bucks or so, been a while since I bought any chicken feed
. That price would certainly be better than $17 for 17# of WBCL! My dog doesn't have access to the litter box so that's not a problem. We couldn't keep her from "grazing"
so there's a barrier up during the day and she's leashed next to the bed at night.
