Hello all,
I was so delighted to discover this wonderful message board forum. I'm always so touched and it always warms my heart to see so many animal lovers like me caring for and cherishing their animal furry friend companions the way I do. Sadly, I come here and post on a very painful sad note. I'll try to be as discreet and delicate sensitive as I can because I respect those who have trouble as I do. Please pardon the long post, I hope no one minds. Long story short, our kittycat (my hubby partner and I) Frisky somehow started having intestinal problems or just elimination difficulties...it's unpleasant and gross to talk about, but last nite we had to keep him "locked" in the bathroom with his litter box and his bowl of water because he can't seem to clean himself properly. And even after I bathed him in peppermint soap and a little Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds, he still "leaks" a little. The odor is unbearable and the problem is just overwhelming.

I'm emotionally drained and he's breaking my heart. I'm sure it will correct itself very soon, but I can't stand the thought of leaving him locked in there...1st I was just feeding him dry organic natural kibble and then he got blocked up so I mixed in some of my yummi homemade veggie potatoe nutritional yeast and brewer's yeast mixture. Then, apparently it was a bit too much, ACK! Ugh, sometimes I feel like I can't win here, but I won't beat myself up. I love him and cherish him as my little furry baby furry friend companion and I care about him and I want him to feel better and stop stinking and be cleaner! arg...I'll give him some grass, perhaps that's part of the problem and will help him...I'm holistic-minded and I'm not about to take him to a "slash and burn" vet who will give me some negative crap news...please help, thank you. *sigh* :'-(

from my heart,
Dayna, Frisky's Mom

Hello and welcome

I'm confused. Are you saying he is getting constipated (blocked up), then you feed him your homemade veggie potato and he gets diarrhea? The reason why I ask is if he is getting blocked up and straining with leakage coming out with no stool produced, he may need an enema (given by a vet) to clean him out first.

Once the blockage is cleaned out or diarrhea stopped...for ongoing constipation, you can feed some canned food and add a bit of all natural pumpkin for fiber and regularity. You may want to post in the health section
Don't worry about anyone being squeamish LOL

Welcome!

Your concern for Frisky is understandable, yet for his sake make a quick trip to a vet who whether you like it or not, may find a solution to stop Frisky's suffering (and yours).

Welcome to TCS, Brenda!! I hope that you find some answers! I agree with the others that your kitty needs a trip to the vet - my daughter's cat had an impacted stool & needed an enema (my vet uses a combo of holistic/traditional meds., depending on owner preference, so I have great confidence in her). I opted for general anethesia, because the cat was so miserable, and the blockage was very painful. She felt lousy afterwards, but is fine now. The main thing is to ease Frisky's suffering, including how his sensitive nose must react to his own foul odor! As for the rest of us reading your post, please feel free to "tell it like it is" - natural body processes occur for cats just like they do for the rest of us!!
In fact, I'm sure you'll read sooner or later that someone is thrilled that a cat's diarrhea has stopped, or that a kitten has started having BMs without external stimulation, and the rest of us will be elated!! Good health is always something to be happy about!! Please keep us updated on Frisky. I'll look for your posts in the forums! Susan
