In September 04 my vet convinced me into taking a 7 week old kitten in that had been abused - I named him Elvis - and 2 weeks after I took him in he passed away from the abuse that he had received. I was devestated. So in November my parents decided to get me a new cat - a beautiful 9 week old that I named Priscilla (get it Elvis and Priscilla) well anyways I LOVE THIS CAT! Her nickname is Cilly! She is great and loving and yada yada yada. By her choice she tends to want to be more outside then inside. I have made 2 appointments to get her spayed BUT she turned up missing both times. Now I think she is pregnant. It seems that she can't get enough to eat. She was always loving but now she is more loving. Her belly is the only thing that got big about her. And her nipples are very pink and swollen. It seems like everytime I go and try to take her to the vet she disappears (I swear its true!). I just want to make her comfortable. I am very excited about having a litter of kittens. If she has the kittens outside how do I make sure that she'll let us get near the kittens. Right now I am just feeding her whenever she wants to be fed. And giving her an unbelievable amount of attention. What else can I do?

she is almost a year old now ... the place where my rents got her said that she was born in late august. I was just sitting outside with her and I saw something in her belly moving. I almost started crying ... I laid my hand on her belly real gentle and felt something (don't know if i imagined it) but she really doesn't like me touching her belly too much. She used to love it being rubbed

Ya the best thing you can do for her is to get her check....just in case...but I remember reading that when cats get pregnant they do change the behavior...

Take care

It is almost certain that she is pregnant.

You can spay her now and abort the kittens. This isn't pleasant but unless you have good homes lined up for the kittens or plan to keep them, it may be the best thing.

You need to keep her inside because it would be very bad if she had her kittens outdoors. And call the vet and make plans to have her and her kittens spayed and neutered when the kittens are 12 weeks old.

And please never, never let an unspayed/unneutered cat outdoors under any circumstances.

You need to keep her indoors until you have her checked by a vet and do not let her back outdoors. If she is indeed pregnant...you need to make a decision regarding your ability to care for the kittens and place them in good homes. Also, you cannot let this cat outdoors again until she has been spayed. I am providing a list of low cost clinics in Delaware:

Thank you all for the responses! I have coaxed her inside and she is sleeping in a chest at the foot of my bed at the moment (yes it is open). It is out of the question that she be spayed now and the kittens aborted. My mom is going to keep two, and I have homes lined up for the rest (everybody that knows cilly loves her). it is amazing what a can of fancy feast can do to coax a cat indoors!

That's good to hear...just make sure that you keep her indoors until she is spayed. That way she won't get pregnant again.
