Thanks guys

Well I just had a call from another agency who received my CV this morning and they want me to go for an appointment tomorrow lunchtime!
Then they will put me forward for an interview for the job I applied for!

Positive, positive, positive... even though my tummy is doing back flips!

Best of luck Gilly

A girl who worked here for about 3 years recently got made redundant, she was gutted at the time but it turned out to be just the kick in the bum she needed! She has gone on to a much better posistion with much better prospects, if she hadn't been forced to leave here she would probably have stagnated for years to come. I'm sure the same goes for you, once you have a new exciting job and new challenges to face then life may seem a lot more interesting! It's great to be in a job where you feel motivated and where you get a real sense of satisfaction at the end of the day.

If all else fails, just think of all the new people you'll get to meet (maybe including a Brad Pitt lookalike who has a thing for dark haired PAs)

Its seems like many of us are in a similar type of situation. My office is closing end of September and to be honest I cannot wait.
I look forward to new possibilities as I am stagnanting here.
I have very good severance benefits so that is not a problem.
Good luck with finding a new position I think you have the right frame of mind and will do well in whatever career path calls you.

Everyone
You are all so brilliant, and I will miss you as I am sure when I get a new job I won't be online as much...

But anyway, the appointment with the agency went so well that I am on cloud 9. I put my typing speed as 60 words per minute - I got tested and ended up with 75 words per minute with 95% accuracy!

The lady kept on saying "you have a lovely CV" and she also said that she is going to contact another person at the agency who has a job going in the City at Liverpool Street for PA to CFO - exactly what I want and the salary is more too! So hopefully I shall get an interview direct with the company.

Then, on the way home I got TWO further calls from two different agencies who want to see me ASAP for an interview so that they can forward me elsewhere! One is in Covent Garden and the other is also in Liverpool Street!
It's only Monday and I already have 4 agencies after me....

So yes, I am staying positive, afterall I have to keep Guin in food and catnip!
I shall keep posting here to let you all know how I am getting on.

That is wonderful Gilly!
We'll keep sending those good luck vibes to you.

Look forward to your posts.

Jana

BTW - I shouldn't be on-line but I'm working from home and can't get motivated. Better get my "you-know-what" in gear or I'll be joining you in the job search. But by the sounds of it, you will be getting Guinness gourmet nip soon.

Gosh Chris, I can't imagine how you must be feeling though
There are so many emotions that you go through, I mean you spend most of your life at work then when it comes to the crunch and you find yourself at home with no job to go to it can be hard. After my last job I took a two month break, the first month was fun but the second month I spent crying ... I wish you luck in deciding and finding what you want to do next! 17 years is a long, long time

I heard so much desperation in your words, so much that you needed out. I think you are being led to an opportunity that you can seize with both hands.

Sending you absolutely positive vibes. I know you have the strength to get to your new life.

Many thanks Jana for your comment earlier about the change of location etc, it really does make sense! And also, thanks for your earlier comment too!

Well, since I last posted in this topic on Monday I had another agency interview on Tuesday, an agency interview today and an internal interview today (with the same company I work at now, different office)
I have been busy and I am soooo mentally, emotionally and physically tired. But all interviews went well and I have had some positive feedback.

My typing speeds this week have been totally different and today I managed 80 words per minute with 3 errors! How cool is that? I only put 60wpm on my CV.

So anyway, I get home today and I have a message from yesterday's agency and I have managed to get myself an interview with an Investment Company near St Pauls, London
I am quite chuffed with myself. Only problem is they want to see me at 10am on Friday but I did explain to the agency that I can't do Friday as I am out of London at a friends wedding.... I am waiting for her to call me back

I said to my mum, if this company are that keen on seeing me then they will make allowances for me to go on Monday instead of Friday.... I shall let you all know what happens.

It's my leaving lunch tomorrow at work so I will be very
and
at making a speech... but ONWARDS & UPWARDS as they say!

WOW - things are really moving fast. I agree with you on the Friday thing. If they are really wanting to see you, they would accommodate. Otherwise, it's not meant to be. And I bet your speech will move everyone.
