I'm actually distantly related to the late Buddy Hackett. They did my father's family tree and that's how I found out. Buddy Hacktt's real name was Leonard Hacker
I (and they) are from Knoxville as well. I've seen them play Manhattan's, and some other Old City places. They've played in Nashville and record in Nashville too. Maybe we should compare notes!!!!!Originally Posted by mferr84

Last night we flew an old 80's band called Prism to Winnipeg to catch a flight out west, I've also met one of the band members from an old 50's/60's band called the Searchers that used to sing "love potion #9"...and that's about it as far as brushes with celebrities!
Ever met anyone famous???

I also have met James Earl Jones because he came and spoke at the university of arkansas a couple of years ago and I was in a group that helped host and organize it. I got him to autograph my Collectors edition star wars box set. That is right people, Darth Vader signed my star wars!!!!
I believe they were going to sign with a division of Sony as Flipside Runner but that band's no more. Despite their potential which they had tons of, they put aside their aspirations of being big stars as they grew up, had families and reprioritized, broke up fairly amicably, and then evolved Pimpin' Ain't Easy which they say is just playing as a "party band". To my knowledge they have no plans to record as the new band.Originally Posted by mferr84

I've known Vinnie, the "founder" of the band(s) since we were both 17 or 18 and he's married to my best friend... but I don't talk to them much anymore since I moved 500 miles away.

Dont know if family counts... and I am not sure if you would call him famous (yet-but maybe someday! ) my cousin Eric is the lead singer for the rock group ShadowWax.
People in and around Tennessee may be familiar with them.
I believe the release date for their CD is the 8-2.
