As some people have noticed, pages may load slowly occasionally on the main TCS site, forums and meowhoo.com.

TCS+Forums and Meowhoo are the 2 main sites on the "TCS Dedicated Server" (Yes, TCS has its own web server which serves out your page requests on a silver platter). Over the past 2-3 month, both sites have had high growth bringing in many more users. Additionally, because of high ratings, there are many search engines scanning the sites and putting stress on the server.

At this point, it seems that the best option to keep sites running as fast as possible for the end user is an upgrade to a more powerful server. This of course costs quite a bit of money to rent and maintain. The time frame for this move cannot be estimated at this time, but obviously the sooner the better.

What can you do to help? I know that TCS runs a paid membership option which offers all sorts of perks at a very reasonable cost. Other ideas about shopping on TCS and supporting their partners is also available here: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37659

Overall, we are working to resolve any issues and getting everything running as smoothly as possible!

It can't be emphasized enough that running a website costs money, and dedicated TCSers should do what they can to support the site.

I've been thinking since I joined in May that I need to subscribe, but just hadn't done it yet. This thread gave me the extra reminder I needed and I just did it!

Anyone else?

I've had a paid subscription for at least one year. I didn't pay for the perks. I paid to support TCS because it's such an informative, educational, and interesting website.

I just signed up for a paid subscription. I wouldn't do this for most sites - but I beleive and love this one.

Who is next?

Thank you Thomas for this simple breakdown of all the mini crashes we are suffering through. One of the problems of a move like this is to be sure everything gets packed away in files and sent to the new "home" without losing anything. And thanks to those who believe in what this website stands for and what it does for cat owners and their cats.

There are other ways to support the site as well. For instance, did you know that you can, for a ~very~ reasonable cost, place an ad in the Marketplace Forum? And for those of us here who do breed our cats, there is also a very generous Breeder Notice Forum where not only can we purchase ads for our catteries, but we can also buy and sell cattery equipment at a nicely reasonble cost.

And of course, it always helps if we can remember to support our sponsors!

Just a few more small ways to help out and support the site we all care so deeply about.

I bought a 3 month subscription last month but I think I'll do a year next time. It really doesn't do anything for me but I really want to support The Cat Site.

I have told Mary Anne this in private but i WILL say it here too! THIS IS the best cat board I have EVER been on - actually the BEST board of ANY KIND OF A BOARD I have EVER been on.

I have never come up agaist so many friendly, helpful, kind and caring people. Right now I have .40 to my name and am in debt up to my ears AND I have to find SOME Vet who will get the intranasal vaccinations for my kids as I do NOT want another VAS cat, and cannot keep Panther in isolation too much longer.

What I want to know, before I spend to join, IS - What happens IF before your year is up, you find you are not liked or wanted here and either have your posts IGNORED or you are booted off. Will you get your money back? If so - soon as I can get some money - I WILL subscribe!

How could this happen among such 'friendly, helpful, kind, and caring' people?
