It doesn't matter whether you are low income, elderly, or average income the spay/neuter clinics in IL really help. I took my Gus to be neutered at 12 wks and his shots were only $12. However, when I was at the clinic I noticed a lot of cat traps coming in and questioned what was going on. Basically they told me that they check the health of the animals, give them shots, and "fix" them than release them back in to the neighborhood and just make sure they can't breed. I remember a few years back there were cats everywhere around here, and it wasn't unusual to have problems with distemper and rabies in our area. Now I maybe see about 1-2 feral cats running around, and I saw 2 kittens this Spring. Which I presume have been trapped or moved out of the area. So for people in IL with traps who would like to bring them in to get neutered for free. Or if your low income (just bring in your public aid card), elderly get it for free, and regular price is $40 to spay/neuter.

Call for appointment. Low cost spay/neuter and low cost vaccinations, tests, Frontline, and Heartgard.

And here's a listing of other "low/no cost" organization in IL.

The Anti-Cruelty Society also has low-cost spay/neuter. Three days a week (I can't remember off the top of my head which three) they will spay/neuter feral cats without an appointment.

Both are excellent options!
