Mkay, Stormy is my lil baby. I love her to death but she is starting to get on my nerves! She loves to cuddle and can never let me sit down without jumping on me which I love. Recently however she has started trying to "nurse" on my arm and chin and shoulders. She will sit and scratch at, lick and bite a spot on me. At first it was cute but now its down right getting annoying because she does it every time she jumps on me especially when I am trying to sleep. Ok sometimes its still cute but you know what I mean. Anybody know what the deal is with her or maybe how to get her to stop? Shes 3 months old ... I wouldnt think she would still try an nurse her real mother let alone her human mommy.

Any advice is welcomed.

She's still a baby at 3 months, so was she taken from her mum really early?.

Rosie my 3 year old used to suckle on her blanket and still does from time to time, so do you have a blanket she could use?

Stormy was seven weeks old when we got her. We also have her half sister Angie that is the same age. They both have the same father but different mothers born two days apart. Anyway Angie doesnt do this at all...actually she doesnt like to be held much. Its funny how different they are. Stormy has her own little bed with a blanket but she doesnt much like it. She mostly and exclusivly hangs on me. Even screams at me if I put her down sometimes. She isnt like this with my fiance at all. lol

maybe offer her a soft toy or an edge of a blanket dipped in sugar water or kitten milk when she starts to suckle on you?

Yeah I hope she never desides that she doesnt like being around me. I love always having my lil fuzzy Storm-ball beside me.

I have two brothers that do this too. They are just 3 months old so I put it down to the fact that they are babies. I think it's adorable that when I lay on the bed Max comes running up and flops down on my chest to suck my ear (Alfie then feels left out so he runs over too!). Hope they grow out of it as having two 2lb kittens do this is cute, having two 13lb cats may be more difficult!

I take it as meaning they love me and are comfortable with me

If its just a baby thing then I am fine with it and will cherish every second. Ive never loved or been loved by a kitten before so its a special thing.

I'm a dog person that is slowly becoming a both cat and dog person with ever tiny lil meow.

Gina - I'm going to suggest something that may sound hard-hearted, but in the end will promote a better relationship. Your kitten needs to learn that there are certain behaviors that you won't tolerate. Until she learns, she'll continue annoying you with them. Sitting on your lap is something she wants to do. If she learns that doing an undesired behavior takes away access to your lap, then she'll learn not to do it. What I'd recommend is that when she does this, you stand up, dumping her off your lap, and walk away. Do this every single time. Don't make any exceptions. It takes many repetitions, but cats do learn.

For example, Rocket loves to curl up in my lap. I also like to eat snacks while watching a video. It's a nuisance to wrestle with Rocket, who would also like to eat my snacks. So by using the above technique, I've taught Rocket that he doesn't get to be in my lap any time I'm eating snacks. Now, he'll just sit there and look at me. As soon as I'm finished, he'll jump up in my lap.
