The favorite things thread got me thinking. What kind of things make you happy and cost less than five bucks? Here's my short list.

Cheap nail polish. Cost: $1.50 or so.
New magazine. Cost: $2 to $3.
A big ol' fountain Diet Coke from QT. Cost: $1.
A big bunch of lavendar bachelor's buttons growing wild. Cost: free.
That first perfect, crisp day of autumn with a blue blue sky and the smell of wood smoke in the air. Cost: free.
The smell of honeysuckle. Cost: free.
A kiss from my sweetheart. Cost: free. Value: priceless.

I know I have more, but those are the ones that come to mind.

I would say a kiss from my sweetheart husband is the best thing by far, but other things, probably less obvious, would be:

Wildflowers. Any kind, from anywhere.
Butterflies. Again, any kind.
A kitty head-butt hug. Those are the best.
To see my daughter playing with our Hobbes. They are the BEST playbuddies!
Spending time as a family.
And all are free!
