Hey guys I have a question. I have a foster kitten that is about 4 months old. He got his second set of booster shots yesterday around 5:00. Around 9:00 his face started swelling clearly because of an allergic reaction to the shot so I have been giving him Benadryl every four hours since that time. (My dog is prone to allergic reaction to shots so I knew what to do) He is acting completely normal, eating, drinking, going to the bathroom, even playing and having no trouble breathing at all but his face is still swollen. Normally with my dog his swelling would go down after about 6 hours. Is it normal for this to go on for so long? Is my Benadryl dosage possibly not high enough?

I just got off the phone with my vet and he said as long as my kitty isn't have trouble breathing and acting normal with me giving him Benadryl I didn't need to bring him in because he would be doing the same thing. Apparently he can stay swollen for days.
I mean I knew I was on the right track and that the vet would do the same but it still upsets me. I hate when I give a cat shots and then they have an allergic reaction to it. It always makes me doubt myself even though I know what I am doing and have given hundreds of shots!

It's always good to have a sounding board and it is better to be safe than sorry!!! Hope your baby is getting back to normal soon!
