HELP! Babies are 4 weeks old now what

I alway's have my aniamls S/N at six months so when new pregnant mama cat came to me I now have questions.
The babies are 4weeks old and they are still in the closet My biggest Great Dane has a twin size mattress and box springs that fits half way into the closet so the baby kittens are hide very well . What should I do?
Should I move them to another room ? This Dane is deaf and vision impared so i am afraid if the babies climb up and fall asleep on his bed (he weighs 180 pounds) he will smother them.

But if I move them will mama cat be stressed

I would try to find a nice box make it soft and move her and the kitties in another room where you are able to keep the door shut. You do not want them to be smushed. Mom may be in more stress then. Does this momma cat trust you around her kittens? If so I think it will be ok. I moved mine and the momma was a stray that ran in the door while it was open. I just did it all at once.

Is it possible to move the dog? If not, I would try to move all the kittens and the Momma. Maybe if they have a blanket or something, you could move that too. Soon the babies will be crawling all over, and it would be a tragedy to have the dog accidentally kill them!

Best of luck!

Yes she does trust me, But my house is very open so i can't close doors I really think they should be moved.

Right now should'nt they be eating solid food and being shown the litter box ?

Edited: to add no I can't move the dogs bed He has slept next to me since the day I rescued him at eight weeks old .He is my VERY special baby.

Mine was born May 23 and did not start eating until the beginning of July. But every litter is different. I would also move them. Do you have a kennel like for a dog you may put them in? A big closet that is airy?

I don't want to put them in a dog crate I want them to get use to the dogs But I think i have found the perfect place to move them, under my desk where my computer is

Does every one think Mama will be happy with this.

That should be fine but the question I am asking is does your dog like kitties? And place nice with them, If so that great and I don't blame you for not locking them up if he is friendly just moved.

She may not necessarily stay there....is she is a room where the door is normally closed? Make sure that while she is still nursing and before she has been spayed that she doesn't have the ability to get out, even accidentally.

The only individual qualified to answer that question is in fact, Mama. You will know without a doubt what the answer is if or when she moves the kittens to another location more to her liking.

I use a dog crate for my kittens not only as the birthing nest, but also as a training facility when I introduce them to solid food and litter. You don't have to keep them in there 24/7 - in fact, I strongly discourage that. But it helps to contain them when you need to and to make sure Mama doesn't cart them all over the place.

At 4 weeks old, they will begin wanting to explore their environment - let them. They need the space to learn to run properly, to jump and to exercise those developing little muscles. Mama will probably not like it so much that they are running around the room so much, but just stay in there to help her herd them up if she gets a little too freaked out until she is more comfortable with the idea.

I have six Dogs, cats birds and reptiles so everyone is use to me bring something home

So I know no one would be mean and hurt the babies.

Wish me luck I just moved them under my desk it is a large desk and i have a short board in front of it to keep them in till they get use to the new nest .At first she kept going back to the old one but now she is nursing them I really hope she leaves them here because they will be more socalized.

I also put in a small litter box, food and water .
Dang they are sooooo cute do you think nine cats are to many
