I'm going to New York on Friday, with my best friend, and my family. I'm so excited!
Anyone here been to NY? I have SO much to do...Shop for an outfit...get Princess's shots, set up for the pet sitters...wow!

Anyways, I'll be gone for ten days! I know I'm going to miss you guys so much, and wanted to say goodbye.

NY is fun! lost of things to do.
It's a little bit fast-paced but if you get stressed out you can just go relax in Central Park. It's really beautiful. Just be careful... last time I went there an out-of-control puppy tried to pull my hair! (I guess NY really is dangerous
)

Have Fun!!

Have fun, Jenny! New York is an incredible city - very much a "melting pot", and a place where there's always something going on! The only negative thing I can say about the city is that I don't like driving there! I lost count of the number of times I had to drive to JFK via Jersey, got in the wrong lane while crossing the GW bridge, and ended up Ct.!

Aw, I'm sorry.
I wish I didn't miss it. Early birthday wishes, Susie.

Thank you, everyone. I'll take tons of pictures, and I'll try to show you when I get back. I promise I'll tell you all about it.

Oh Jenny, you'll have a fantastic time in NYC!
Make sure you go to the little stalls in the shopping centre, they do some great t-shirts! (well, they did in 2001!)

Can't wait to see your photos on your return! Have a great time!

WooHoo! I've been twice in the last 3 years & it is truly the "City of the World"! There are street musicians playing every kind of music; the taxi drivers are from all over, so they use their horns to communicate in some kind of cab-driver-Morse-code (at first, the honking got on my nerves, till I asked the cab driver why they did that, and they all had the same explanation, no matter what their country of origin was, Pakistan,Ireland,China,Jamaica). And the locals are so friendly, and I loved the subway system; it was so easy to get around without a car!! Food is expensive,though, and there aren't the big grocery stores like out here - just find a few deli that sell what you want. I was lucky, and around the corner from where we stayed, the Hispanic family that owned the little market was from California, and gave me a great deal on fresh fruits & veggies. And if you get lost ( I need mountains to navigate - no matter where in CA you are, you can use the mtns.) you can ask the many,many policemen or the UPS deliverymen for directions. Also, New Yorkers are very helpful in general. My daughter has a severe speech problem, and the locals did such a great job of understanding her; it was a wonderful experience for her, to be accepted like that - she even went to the TRL show on her own (a wonderful girl from New Jersey went in with her, & helped her out). By the way, if you don't have TRL tickets, you show up on a side street and wait, and they let in the number of no-shows that they have that day. HAVE A FUN & SAFE VACATION, GIRLS!! And take lots of pics for us, okay! And, if you think of it, put some kitty kibbles in your luggage, in a baggie, if you go to Coney Island (near the subway stop, there's a sad, skinny colony of ferals, all ages & they really enjoy the treat). I'm looking forward to hearing all about your adventures in NY!! Oh, and when you buy souvenirs, don't be shy about shopping around, and when you find a better price, be sure to mention that to the other shopkeepers, they often will lower their price, too, to get your business - it was hard for me to do at first, but my second trip, I found that these people really don't mind bartering....

I've been to New York several times. Oh I love that city. I wish I could move there. It is so much fun and so exciting. The first time I went there, I was just a regular tourist, and I did all of the tourist things. I went on a sightseeing bus tour, road a helicopter around the Statue of Liberty, went to a Broadway show, and just had a ball. The other times I've gone to New York, I stayed at a friends apartment who lives in Greenwich Village. So, I kind of felt like I was more like a native than a tourist. I walked all over, just like real New Yorkers do, and I remember meeting some really cool people. I just LOVE New York.
