I thought it would be fun to start a thread where we could list all of the things cats are great at. I'll go first...

Cats are really, really good at giving you the "are you crazy, what the heck is wrong with you?" look.

Cats are also really good at keeping your suitcase weighed down while you're packing it so that it just doesn't float off or something.

Cats are great at holding your place on your notes, book, study guide...whatever...and then insisting on continuing to hold that place even when you're done!

They ARE great at that, Kat!! They're also great at creating decorative "tumbleweeds" to blow across your floor just when you think you've swept everything up.

Oh, and cats are really good at staying underfoot while you're walking to make sure you don't walk too fast and hurt yourself if you fall.

Cats are excellent alarm clocks.

First, they start with the quiet stare from across the bed, then if that doesn't wake you they'll progress to the purr in the ear and the head-bump. For the more stubborn human, the bladder-stomp is the tactic guaranteed to get Mom out of bed.

Cats are very good at filling all available space.

One small cat can fill a whole stair, so you have to take a huge step to get over them. One small cat can take up half a bed, so you sleep hanging on to the edge of the mattress. One small cat can fill an entire large arm chair.

And then, that same small cat can fit into the smallest space imaginable, and hide, especially when they are needed for something.

I think that cats are shape shifters.

That's so true!
Especially about taking up half (or all) of a bed.

Cats are very good at protecting us from "dangerous" rolls of toilet paper and paper towels, too. A cat can shred a roll in 1 minute flat

cats are awesome clocks:
6:15 am--time for brekkie!!
7:15 pm--time for din din!!!

they are also very eccentric decorators--unused toys must be strewn "just so" all over the floor!

Mithril is very good at "helping" Mommy make the bed. He's so into it, that as soon as he hears "bed-making" noises he comes running
: .

They also do an excellent job as the OP said of holding things down so that they don't float away.

My cats are great at sitting on the closed toilet lid, but only when they know that one of us humans needs to use the john.

They're also excellent at just *having* to run down the stairs as you are --- excellent at doing that figure-8-trip-the-human thing as they run the stairs!

Cats are also excellent at helping you to NOT make your bed. My cats wake me up to be fed, then as I'm getting ready, some of them will snuggle into the unmade bed and make me feel real guilty if I wanna make my bed... so I don't...

Cats are great at opening doors. From the way Hammie hooks his paw and opens up the closet doors in the middle of the night (freaking me out in the process) to how Zorro hammers his front paws against the bathroom door to get in there with me.

Cats are great at giving the "you know I love you and you MUST pet me right now" look. Forget stopping to smell the flowers; stop to pet the cats! Makes your day better!!!

Cats are really good at stepping on precisely the most painful spot possible when they walk across you for no reason when you're sleeping at night. Just ask my hubby
