I mean, it's an adult game, so who's to say what's appropriate for me??? But even more infuriating is the double standard of censorship.....What's that Hillary??? The game is fine as long as it's just graphic violence, but if there's sex in it the WORLD WILL END??? Where is the logic in that? Sex is a natural biological function that almost everyone will eventually take part in. Can you say the same for car jacking and murder? I'm not saying the violence should be censored, just trying to fathom what it is about the nudity that is so threatening in a game where graphic violence is the norm. I've seen the sex scene and, while graphic, it IS animated. I didn't see specific penetration shots nor was there any male nudity at all....pretty tame by "porn" standards.
Honestly, I don't even know what to say.....it's just so ridiculous.
Yeah I'm a gamer myself *points below* but it amazes me how quick they were to pull them off the shelves. And what really kills me (no pun intended) that in the ESRB rating system M is for 17 and over... the re-rated game is now AO (adults Only) for the 18+. I didn't know Sex had such an impact on people’s minds in one year. I guess they don't Remember Duke Nukem or up to the recent games of this year and last. I didn't hear any Christian groups scream bloody murder with Doom3 with its interesting satanic overtones through out the games. But I guess shooting and killing people, cutting or blowing limbs off of people, beasts, aliens anything else is worse then a sexual moment. I guess shooting someone and them screaming in terror with a red cloud of blood coming from the back of his head is okay then sex. Oh speaking of sex, I guess we may have to take off the Shelves Sims2 since there are sexually suggestive themes in it to include scenes of whoopee.
Btw, as into carding people for games, several stores already do this. I worked at Toys R Us in their "R-Zone" section where the video game sections. We had several rated M games. When the latest Turok for N64 system came out, it was rated M. However... when the parents came by to get the game for their children, in hand btw, I notified them that the game was rated M for mature and showed her ON THE BACK OF THE GAME where the content that was flagged was at. There was only *one* parent that had concerns and put the game back, however, the kid replied, "That’s okay mom, I'll just play it at my friends house." Most stated to me personally that these games are no worse then what is shown currently on TV. I would agree on that today still.
Here’s the funny thing too. I friend of mine modded my Xbox so I can play several other platforms like the old arcade systems, or Atari up to the N64. What really amazed me on the arcade (called MAME) was all of the adult orientated games on it. Nothing sexual so far what I have found on the arcade part of it, just a chance to see a naked woman or man in a provocative position. But on the old Atari 2600 side of things, I found a couple of adult games with VERY sexual themes in it. That shocked me and Heidi.
Sex will always be a scandal here in the states but… yessesh.. some peoples priorites on whats best for the children. Killing someone or seeing a sex act.
One other side note, thanks to Hillary’s crusade, if you want to call it that, Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games has confirmed that the FTC now is investigating their practices. Nice…
As someone said in one forum I read this morning:
While terrorists are bombing subways, buses, crashing buildings into planes; While our friends and our family are over in the middle east and Asia being shot at; While millions of children across the United States are consistently living at the bottom of the digital divide; While tens of people are dying to the heatwave across the US; while Asian countries such as North Korea are plotting against us with Nuclear weapons; while Africa has an AIDS epidemic that is spiraling out of control; while hurricanes continue to ravage the southeastern US; And while Social Security is slowly depleting.
We can rest assure that our mighty tax dollars are going to making sure a bunch of 17 year old high school students aren't watching simulated computer pornographic scenes while they sit in their basements with their friends getting high and drinking booze.
God bless America.
