With days of hot weather and high humidity it was time for a break. As a cool front slams into this very warm and humid air, this is what you get. Storms and lots of them. We had many severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado warning 2 counties south of here. As I sit here and type this, it is thundering again. Not that I mind, I LOVE storms
Wow, we just had a very close lighting strike. Well, I have some pictures here that I want to post, so I better get them online before our power goes out. Enjoy these stormy pictures

The rumble of thunder can be heard and the skies begin to darken.

It gets closer

And one more before the wind and rain hit.

I wanted to get a few during the storms, but it was to dark and the rain and wind were very strong. But, take a look at these.
As the rain stopped, the sun tries to make an appearance.

I love this erie looking sky as lighting flashes behind me.

Another of the awesome orange sky.

As the storm moves away, I look to the east and see this

The all clear and things calm down.

I love this stormy weather. Bring me more please

Poor Nakoma looked at me like, what's happening? You could just hear the rush of wind as the storms got closer. One thing is for certain, it sure feels good now. There was about a 20 degree temperature drop after the storms.

It's storming once again. I should try to get some night time lighting photos. However, I really should get some sleep.

Beautiful pictures! I love storms!
My kits have never heard thunder or seen lightning living out here in Cali. When we get back to Oklahoma they are in for a nice surprise!
Electrical storms are so nice to watch and listen too!

The temp difference will be from that "cool" front moving through. Unfortunately it's not quite supposed to get this far south, but hang and dissipate at the Alabama/Tennessee border
. But our temps are still supposed to drop a few degrees from highs in the mid-90's and lows in the mid 70's to upper 80's and upper 60's. Anything'll help!

Great pix

Great pics John, By the way how big are your guys and gal anyway I don't really know how much bobcats usually weigh in at or how long they get. And how many banks a month do you have to rob to feed them...lol

Well, it did continue to storm until I went to bed at close to 2am. It was so cool. Our upstairs bedroom has a balcony with big sliding glass doors. I went to sleep with the whole room filled with lighting flashes. But, it was raining to much for me to get out there and try to get a shot of the lighting.

Well, that is much easier to take. I like it warm, but once you start getting in the 90's with the high humidity, you can't do anything. However, that heat and humidity is perfect for good storms

Lets see. I haven't weighed them in a while, but the last time I did, Amber was 23 pounds and Boris was about 25. Amber should top out at about 30-35 pounds and Boris, he seems like he may double his weight yet. He is only a little over a year old and it takes them about 3 years to fully mature. Nakoma, he is a big boy at 3 years. The vet estimated his weight to be 45 pounds, he could be more. As for the bank robberies
actually, it's not as bad as you may think. Since we feed them raw chicken, you can find good deals out there. The price for chicken can actually be less than high quality domestic cat food, but I do add supplements to the chicken as well and that adds to the cost. I want to get what is called a "renders" permit. This will allow me to go to stores and pick up chicken and other meat that they pulled off the shelves, because it is close to the expiration date.. You can get it for free. The meat is still good, but it can not be sold for consumer use, because there is not much of a shelf life to it. But, if you freeze it, it is ok. All 3 have been eating like crazy these past few days, which is unusual for them in this hot summer weather. Amber and Boris have each been eating a leg and a wing for breakfast and for dinner and Nakoma, he can eat 2 large chicken leg quarters at each meal. He ate 4 large leg quarters in one day!! But, I cut him down some. Since it has been hot, he has been a little lazy, I don't want him to get over weight. Actually, now that he has been getting fed on a regular schedule, he has been eating less. I think he was just hording food, because he was in a new location. Now that he knows that he will be fed at certain times, he doesn't worry.
hey you might when something cause thoses pictures are unreal you have alot of talent
Thank you very much
Those were taken with my digital camera. I still like film better, but I didn't have time to get my 35mm or large format camera ready to get these shots. I should have had them set up before the storms got here.

Yes, it has been pretty dry down in the southwest. I bet you are loving the rain

Well, this is gonna be a stupid question, but bigkittendaddy urged me on to ask it with is last one.....

(p.s I love the storm pics...love a storm!!)

Anyway, John, as for Amber and Boris, I know you can handle them like a normal housecat inside the house as they were brought up with you, but as for Nakoma, can you pet him easily like the others? Are you ever worried he may bite the hand that feeds due to his new environment? Do you take any precautions with him or the others even?
Can you go close to them when they are eating?

And lastly, do you pick any of them up?
