One of our cats has started peeing in the clothes basket that we keep our dirty clothes in we keep it in our bedroom. I found soaked clothes that smelled like cat pee. Then I left a basket of clean clothes in the laundry room because I wasn't done folding them. The next day I found two of my nice white shirts soaked in yellow cat pee. Then today I come home from work and check the dirty cothes and yep... wet again.

What is going on?

They have never done this before and it's really starting to tick me off. I don't know who's doing it but I have an idea.

What should I do?

Usually when cats urinate inapprpriately, they are sending you a message. It's one way for a kitty to express they may be ill or in pain or well, just tired of something with their litter box. First, take your kitty for a vet check to rule out a uti or cystitis or some other medical problem. If that's not the problem, check the litter boxes. Make sure they are clean and that there are enough boxes - if you have more than one cat. Rule of thumb is one box per cat plus one.

Is she stressed about something?

Then, when you cleaned, if you use bleach in your laundry, that gives off a urea kind os scent so kitty knows by her smell that she went there before so it's a safe place to go again. Move the laundry basket and do not clean the area with bleach.

Good luck!

Take them to a vet. When a litterbox trained cat starts peeing outside the litterbox, it ususally indicates some sort of urinary problem.
