I need some help folks. There is a 12 y.o. shorthair American Curl spay in the Sacramento SPCA. Her name is Suzi, and she was owner surrendered due to the owners poor health.

My group (American Curl Rescue Project) is as yet, unable to find a foster home for her or a no-kill group in that city that can take her.

She is up to date on shots, microchipped, tested negative for FELV.

This girl deserves a final forever home...can anyone help or steer me to a group that can? I've tried contacting Happy Tails (they are full), Rain (Rescuing Animals in Need) - haven't heard back from them yet, and am trying to contact Fluffbuddies.

Thanks...we just have to get her out, this is not a no-kill that she's in.

As of mid-day today, Suzi has a temporary foster home arranged, and an adoptive home in Oklahoma to go to once she's ready to fly.

Thank you for the update!! Congratulations on your success in creating a happy ending for Suzi!! Her former owner will be so relieved!! What a tragedy to lose your health, mental or physcial, to such a degree that one has to give up pets...

It breaks my heart when I go to military dogs_cats rescue @ yahoo. - those brave people leaving to serve our country, and as a reward, their pets are put into kill shelters.....

There is a national rescue group that works to place military animals - Operation Noble Foster I didn't read over the site to see if it's still active, but to the best of my knowledge it is.

Thank you Pat&Alix! I will have to check out the site and maybe foward it to the animal shelter in GA. They are so desperate, they are willing to ship animals out of state - which seems scary. I can only hope that they require references from vets & local rescue groups. I guess that they can't afford to be picky.

Are they working with any purebred rescue groups for those animals that are or are apparent, purebreds? There are many such groups for cats and dogs in various states, some groups are national for the particular breed they rescue.
