And than someone has to do this crud

Well..maybe Laira will sell on wensday when someone comes to look at her, and i can put that money to Ares

And you trust her? and now she thinks you don't want him.

As a breeder if this happened to us, I think if the owner took more then a few weeks to pay the money again then we would probably sell the kitten. Refunding half of the money already paid.

I just talked to her. We had a miscommunication, shes going to hold onto him. And I am going to pay it again. I really cant afford this all over again, but I will find a way.. I have too. Sure wish I knew away to get a loan super fast! I always pay everything off, have super good refrences. Crappy credit due to ID theft...but..lots of refrences.

Heck even had two people let me have the horse they sold me on payments on my property before they were paid off..they just held the papers....I just..dun know what to do now..

I need a money tree or a miracle right about now. *sighs*
Ok, I have read this whole thread and something doesn't seem right with this breeder, after reading this part. If this whole deal with your check was explained to her, why on earth would she think you do not want him? Plus the fact that you may be out the $300 you had already sent? That $300 is a deposit and there should be no way she could sell Ares unless you backed out. Yes, if you decided you no longer wanted him, then I could see the breeder telling you that you lost your deposit, but this is not the case. I would also call the post office, they should be able to put a trace on the last location of that check. The post office also has their own police, so they would be the ones to handle the case, if it was stolen from the mail. The bank should also know at what time this check was cashed and should have a video tape of the transaction, since all banks have cameras taping everything inside. If someone deposited the check through an ATM, that would be easier to catch the person, because they would have had to deposit the check into their personal account. I wish you luck with getting this resolved as soon as possible

Your bank needs to track down exactly where and when the check was cashed. Was it cashed at a bank, liquor store? grocery whar? What about the Sig. Is there a Dl # copied down? This really smells fishey to me. I sure wouldnt send anymore money till I got some answers. Have you checked with others to see if there any red flags with this person? I hate to talk bad about anyone but the world is full of scammers unfortunatly. Call the PD in her area and ask if there have been any complaints of this nature lodged against her. The DA's office too.
I really hope you can get it worked out because I'm like you abnd cant afford to get ripped off.

Dont i know it! I had Id theft from an employeer a couple years ago. that sucked enough. but having my money plain old dissapear not cool beans. I have had no red flags from her, I did a througho refrence and ect check before sending a deposit. Its standard for me to do that. Being in horses so long, i learned some hard lessons. Not the breeders fault at all in any of this. of that I am certain! The guy at the bank today wasnt much help but they were getting ready to close. *rolls eyes* but i will beon their butts bright and early when the doors open.

First thing to do is get a copy of the check and see who cashed it. The bank has to give you a copy if you request it. You can tell a lot from a cashed check. Like where it was cashed, if it was put into another account and what account that was, and if it wasn't put into another account there should be some sign of an ID taken. If someone doesn't have an account at that bank the bank now takes a finger print to cash a check. Show a copy of it to the breeder and ask her if she recognizes the signature. I was in a similar situation years ago and turned out the persons kid signed and cashed the check. You just never know. Also, do you have a signed contract with the breeder? If so, (and you should) then you should have a signature to compare with. I think this is a breeder you can trust too but you know, people forget stuff. And everything is worth checking out. There is so much you can do on your own. But have you contacted the police too? If not, you should right away.

When I pay someone like that I use paypal all the time now. You can pay anyone with an email address that way and they gaurentee the payment from fraud up to $1000. Paypal isn't just for ebay anymore! And I think that breeder takes paypal too, if I remember right.

Sounds like you're well on your way! I am really interested in seeing how this works out. And just FYI, you can still send money to someone even if they aren't signed up officially for paypal. I think it just makes it easier if they are set up for it.
