I recently adopted two cats who were being fostered. They are both around 2 years old and came to me together. I've gotten a lot of great ideas to get them to stop scratching my couch, but my little girl has decided it's a good idea to chew on my tv/dvd/cable cords...how do I get her to stop? Is this just a stress thing? She is very new to my apt.

I've heard good things about bitter apple. You put it on the cords, etc, and it makes them taste really bad so the cat stops chewing.

Also, give her a variety of toys to play with so she doesn't act out due to boredom.

Last winter my cat was chewing my Christmas tree and with all the lights and cords on it....not a good idea!

I got this stuff from the vet called "shoo away", it smells like apples and it did the trick...I had to reapply it every week or so.

PetsMart has it. You could probably find it at most any largish pet supply shop. I went around spraying anything that looked remotely like an electrical cord when the boys first came home. I haven't seen them touch one in quite some time now.

Go to the Radio Shack (no, I don't work there!) and get some plastic coil... it's thin black plastic springy stuff that you wrap the cords in - looks like a fat version of the coil on scribblers.
