I know we have some theater buffs here on TCS!

This game is a variation of the original Song Lyrics Game. In this one, you give the lyrics to a song from a Broadway musical (such as The Pajama Game, Cats, Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, etc.).

The next person guesses which show it is from and the name of the song. Bonus points if you can name which character(s) sings the song!
This could prove to be a bit challenging, so good luck!

OK, here are the lyrics to the first song:

"There are times when I catch in the silence the sigh of a faraway song.
And it sings, of a world that I long to see,
Out of reach,
Just a whisper away, waiting for me."

Hmmm, I may need to rethink this game. Do y'all think it'll be a bit too tough? Where are my Broadway fans???

I'd love to play but I got nothin' in my arsenal.
I'm afraid I'm Broadwayically challenged

Excellent job Denise! I tried to make the first one easy (everyone knows I'm a Les Mis nut
).
Now it's your turn to choose some lyrics (oops, guess I forgot to include that in the instructions).

The Continent of Europe is so wide, Mein herr....
Not only up and down but side to side, mein herr.
I couldn't even cross it if I tried, mein herr...

There's the first clue..

Meinn Herr from Cabaret

OK, here's my next head-scratcher:

"To loving tension, no pension
To more than one dimension,
To starving for attention,
Hating convention, hating pretension
Not to mention of course,
Hating dear old mom and dad"

Ah that is one of my favorites!
"Corner of the Sky" from Pippin
One of the guys did that on American Idol this year.

"I don't know why I'm frightened,
I know my way around here.
The cardboard scenes, the painted seas, the sound here.
Yes a world to rediscover,
But I'm not in any hurry,
And I need a moment..."

Hey Denise, think we're the only theater buffs on right now??

That's "As If We Never Said Goodbye" from Sunset Boulevard...I believe Norma sings it.

"His brow is deeply lined in thought
His head is highly domed
His coat is dusty from neglect
His whiskers are uncombed
He sways his head from side to side
With movements like a snake
And when you think he's half asleep
He's always wide awake!"

I was hoping someone would bring on some Cats lyrics!!!
Thanks Tari!
That's Macavity: The Mystery Cat!

"But Senora Peron, that's an eeeeasy mistake.
I'm still called an Admiral,
Yet I gave up the sea long ago."
(One of the funniest lyrics in all of Broadway history)

Yup, it was Evita (the song was Rainbow Tour), though Antonion Banderas played Che and that line was sung by some random guy in the show

Impossible Dream from Man of LaMancha (one play that I have yet to see!)

"I am the law and the law is not mocked."
