Hey everyone... I am new to the cat wold. Some kids found a small kitten and couldn't keep him, and when I saw him it was love at first meow. Any advice is welcome.. I've been reading as much as I can, and trying to make little Sephiroth, or as my wife and daughter call him "Sephie", as welcome as I can

Now there is a interesting name, I don't think I've ever seen it before. What questions do you have? By the way welcome, you have come to the right place.

LOL where to begin... this is my first kitten.. I am basically lost. I have read the book "Kittens for Dummies" so I know very little. I know how to somewhat read him when he expresses himself.. like blinking is a sign of affection, so his presenting his rear end. I know when his ears are back he's angry, etc. but basically I am a newbie. He's made us very happy.. he plays with my daughter, and seems very tolerant of pre-school behaviour. He seems to read my emotions well, and knows when I need him, and I try to do the same for him.. for example last night he couldn't sleep, so I held him and pet him until he fell asleep in my arms. But yeah.. we are new at life with kitty.

It looks like you are headed in the right direction so far. Do you have any idea how old he is? Probably the 1st thing you will want to do is get him to a fgood vet for a check-up. Keep him warm and well loved and fed and it will be hard to go wrong, but do get him to a vet soon and do get him "fixed" fairly soon as that will definetly make life a bit easier on all concerned. I would advise to keep him indoors all the time or if you are going to let him out do it in the backyard and keep a close eye on him. As an indoor only cat he will live a longer , healthier and happier life, plus you will save a lot of money on vet bills. Another thing I reccomend is spend the extra money on a good quality cat food and stay away from the cheap stuff as it has way too much salt and sugar in it. I also reccomend a dry food for standard feeding and save wet food as a treat. Get him some toys to play with, a wadded up piece of paper is a great kitten toy.

He is 8 weeks old according to our vet. We found an vet that associate with either the humane society or the spca.. I forget which. He's had his first round of shots. They said they can't "fix" him until he's 4 months old.

Welcome, Ashe. I think you'll be great, alot will maybe come natural....like being a daddy to a human baby.

We'd all love to see pics, when you're ready to share them. And tell us more about little Sephie!!!

ok.. I have a question and I'm not sure where it goes..

How can a creature so small as a kitten produce such a rank odor?! lol I had litter duty today and I thought something had crawled into little Sephie's litter and died.

You don't have kids yet, do you???
Yep, little ones get pretty ripe, no matter the species!
