Hello,

My name is Cathy Fraser and I am a veterinary technician at the Secaucus Animal Hospital in Secaucus, NJ. We run a small adoption program there called Happy Feet Adoptions. We also work with our town shelter by examining, neutering, vaccinating, etc all of the stray cats and kittens they bring to us. A few weeks ago they brought us three cats surrendered from the same household. One was completely healthy and the other two although they looked healthy tested positive for FeLV. The shelter placed one cat in a home but the person would not take the second cat. So the shelter wanted us to euthanize her.

That is pretty difficult considering that this news didn't come until the cat has been with us for weeks and we have gotten to know her. She is a nice cat, a little shy but I am sure she would acclimate well to a home.

I was wondering if you take in FeLV cats or if you know of anyone who does. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Cathy Fraser

There is a special website where you can list these cats for adoption. I think I still have it bookmarked- let me check
