So, we have a new female cat who is a few months younger than Obi. The introductions went fairly well, and proceeded fairly quickly (all on their part, I hasten to add!). There was some hissing through the door and what-not, but no real overt aggressive behavior like trying to attack each other, and the hissing quickly died down and disappeared. At this point, they've met one-on-one (supervised) and I'm not sure whether or not it is still going well. No one is hissing or growling, in fact Obi is making those little playful "brrrrrr" chirruping noises. But, Obi plays rough and hard. He's that way with us, too. Although we've let him know that if he gets too rough with us playtime is over. So, this morning was typical. I let her into the living room and Obi immediately raced over and they started chasing around. Any time Sancha stopped, he'd come over and tackle her. I should note that she initiated a few tackles, too. But he just won't let up. He keeps chasing her around, and won't let her settle. She starts to look a bit irritated. And he appears to exhibit some first-stage mating behavior, i.e. he gets her by the scruff and just holds on until I break it up. Since he's neutered, he appears to get confused after the neck bite like . . ."Wasn't there something that comes next????" Anyway, I've separated them again.

So, not sure what to do. There are no aggressive behaviors like hissing or growling, but he seems to be pestering her as much as playing with her. What to do? Oh, and yes she is spayed, but I'm wondering if not enough time has passed and she is still giving off some residual pheremones that are setting him off. Possible?

It's a dominance behavior. He is showing her who is boss. If she was a male, he would be doing the same thing.
When I got my cats introduced, my resident male cat did the same thing to the second cat. It all went away completely with time. In fact, I suspect my second cat is now an alpha male, because he always eats first.

You didn't say how long ago they were each fixed, so can't answer about the "residual pheromones", but other than that it sounds to me like your introduction is going fairly well and they're just working out their new relationship. I don't think you need to keep them separated while you're around to supervise.

I would either get a bottle of feliway spray or get the comfort zone room diffuser and plug that in. It should calm things down in 24 hours. The diffuser works better than the spray imo-
