Hi everyone,

I need some advice.. My male cat Emerson has been doing something pretty strange today. I have never had this problem with him before. Twice today he hissed at me. Once, while I sitting on the couch, he jumped up and tried to move me.. well, when I eventually moved over and turned around to look back at him, he hissed. Then, just now... I was making my bed. He was doing his usual playing with the sheets, but as I was tucking in te corner, he lunged towards the corner I was tucking and hissed at me.
Since the day I got him, he's never hissed at me. Maybe once or twice at my ex, but that was when he was a kitten. I'm not used to it, so it kinda freaked me out a little and it was kinda random, so i'm sorta walking on egg shells around him now. Usually I can pick him up, hug and kiss him all over the face and he just sits there all sweet and rubs his head on my face, so it's not like i'm forcing him. Has this ever happend to anyone.. maybe he's just in a bad mood
.. To my knowledge nothing out of the ordinary has happened, I haven't left the house since I got home from work early, Friday afternoon.. any ideas about what could be wrong?

I sound like a broken record sometimes, but anytime a cat is acting off, it is always a good idea to get the cat to the vet and rule out a health issue first-

I actually just read the post below and i'm thinking it would be a good idea to have him checked. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow.

It really always is, because we see the cat so much we sort of take it for granted that the cat is "ok" and sometimes, the cat is not. Always a good idea to rule out a health issue, because caught quick enough, it is usually inexpensive to fix, but ignored- it could become costly.

I also think it wise of you not to pick this cat up and cuddle right now- If he has access to the outside, he very well may have been in a cat fight

I won't cuddle him.. i'll let him be. He was sleeping on my leg like usual while I was watching tv.. so I just let him get cozy. I will let him alone for a while and see how he is. He isn't an outdoor cat, he stays in the house at all times. Hmm.. now you have me watching him.. and it might be my imagination. but he does seem a little more lathargic then usual.. he's eating and drinking normal.. going to the bathroom.. but kinda sleepy.. I am gonna take him Monday.. or as soon as the vet will take me.
