All night the stupid wireless has been disconnecting me. It repairs itself when I tell it to but I really hate the message "If you still have problems, contact the person responsible for the network".

Unfortunately I'm the network admin for our home network and when I tell my network admin about the network problem, I get this snide answer from the other side of my brain to just live with it and that we don't know how to fix it. I suspect it is some sort of interference but I think my network admin should get some manners.

Whew that felt better. Now just cross my fingers that the network will stay up long enough to post this. Nope - repairing it again. Stupid network admin.

Thanks for listening.

I too have a wireless network in my home (a hub with 4 computers - 2 desktops, 2 laptops). I set it up myself and I know the one thing I did that I am thankful for is to change my 2.4 GHz phone - it interferes and can "disconnect" the system. Also, sometimes, just resettng can help. Do you have any other electronic devices that may be interferring? What kind if router do you have?

I have a Netgear router - they seem to work the best with my VPN at work. The phone was upgraded to a 5.8 GHz so I know that isn't it. I'm starting to play around with the channels to see if that helps as I know we have several wireless networks in the area.

Our network is wired (I ran the wires through the walls when I re-did the room) but my network admin sits in the other chair. If something goes wrong I just whine to him

Me too! Although frequently he is the *reason* our network is down...

My husband also whines to our network admin, and she's just as rude to him! I swear, she should be fired (I wish).

That reminds me of when we had a network crash, literally. I got so angry
at the router that I threw it on the floor and it crashed into pieces. Not a recommended action since I had to go get a new one and set the whole thing up again.
