We took our 4 month kitties in today for their second round of vaccinations. One of the kittens is looking kind of tired and listless. Possibly a little warm. Can this be considered a reaction to the vaccine? She is still purring, but just doesn't seem like herself. They also got wormed today.

That sounds like a fairly typical reaction to me. Keep an eye on her, but I don't think it is cause for alarm. Editing to add: main things to watch for that would be more serious include vomiting, loose or runny poo, swelling or if she seems really itchy. Cats can have allergic reactions to vaccinations.

Absolutely might be a reaction to the vaccinations, etc. My Sasha who is 13, still has a slight reaction and he's 20 lbs! He gets a slight fever, his face and nose are a tad warm, and he's "within himself" for a day or so. Play soft music, make a dark, safe place for her to rest and have lots of water available. Let her know you ar right there and talk her through it. Keep good close watch and leave a voice mail for your vet over this weekend, just advising them on her reaction so they have it for Monday. Doesn't hurt to do that as a precaution and this way they're aware of it. Psychologically, it makes you feel better, too!

Tee hee! Half the time when I call the vet it is to make ME feel better, so I know how that goes . . . !! Leaving a message for the vet is a good idea, for both of you.

Yes it can be a reaction keep an eye on the little one. Vomit, is a sign, as well as not eating and drinking much. My big Loki boy had a bad reaction to a vaccine, when he was last in, and they tried to say "Oh its normal" i said OH ITS NOT and I was right, the vet said the girl at the desk was wrong, i was right. He had to be on an IV so keep watch on the little one! If it gets worse..VET VET VET.

I know!
It's a good idea, as if anything does take a dip for the wrose they are prepared. But when I call over the weekend, I feel "stronger" like I've shared the burden a bit.

Thanks everyone, this has been helpful. We've only been cat owners...or cat owned for about a month, so its all really new to us!

It could also be the worm medicine, if she has roundworms or tapeworms the pills are a bit rough on a young one's tummy.

Hi. They received the standard set without the leukemia, since they are only indoor kitties. Luckily, they are all back to their normal playful selves this morning. Thanks for all the comfort and feedback!!!
