Blood in stool?

I am pet sitting for a cat over the summer and he just went to the bathroom and he didnt cover his stool up and i noticed there was blood in it. What does that mean?

it was bright red.. I made him an apptointment for Tuesday to see the vet.

I hope it is as minor as a bit to much strain to go... but Hissy said vet I dont know if tuesday is good to wait any er vet clinics in driving distance??

Well see the owner left his credit card number at the vet. I don't have the money to take him myself

does the vet have an answering service ..?? mine has the ers number for when is out of the office I am sure the # can be gotten monday if needed ..

Blood in stool could be parasites, obstruction, infection, bad food, the cat ate something he shouldn't. Unless there is a lot of bright red blood then it is a crashing emergency, but otherwise it isn't. You still need a vet so he or she can rule out the above and treat what it is.

I mean it wasn't alot of blood.. Just something i thought needed some attention

Keep an eye on it , gets worse you know to get help now ..
