I just brought home a 5 month old kitten name Smokey on Thursday and my resident cat Shylo who's 4 years old didnt take to him being at his home very well. So I put Smokey in my room for the rest of the day on Thursday and took him back out Friday after I returned home from work. Shylo kinda hissed at him a little and groaned once or twice and he even swatted at him. But I did notice that Shylo was acting a little more pleasant towards him. I put Smokey back in the room so Shylo can have some alone time and took him back out that night and Shylo actually played with Smokey for a little while.

Now today I am totally amazed because Smokey has been out of the room all day and there have been NO FIGHTS, HISSES or GROANS!!!
They are running all across the funiture together, chasing strings, eating my plants
and drinking out of the toilet TOGETHER! I cant believe that Shylo took to Smokey so quick! They are lying on the sofa together now taking a nap. I cant believe this, I thought this was gonna be a battle but it's not! AWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Congrats on such a successful introduction! Don't be surprised if the next few weeks, or months even, they vaccillate between loving each other and occasional hisses and swats--they have to establish who is Alpha--and that can take awhile!

Oliver and Emma are 98% of the time best buddies, but every once in awhile they'll still rub each other the wrong way--just like any family!

That's great!! But it's not always this easy, so you've got something to feel pretty good about!!
