Ok, so here's what happened. There are some yummy fresh ripe blackberries growing in a briar patch beside our house. Shy (hubby) and I ventured into the briar patch to pick some of those berries. I was behind him and he had pushed a thorny vine forward so he could get by it. I had bent over and as I was raising up, he released the vine and it smacked into my open eye and I got a thorn in my eye. It wasn't the WHOLE entire thorn but a big part of the sharp tip. Needless to say, it was very very painful and I HATE having someone touch my eye so it was a pretty traumatic trip to the ER. Luckily, they put some numbing drops and lubricant in my eye and made sure I had an effective pain killer. It took Shy and about 3 people to hold me down ( it hurt AND I have this "thing" about people touching my eye.) Anyway, it sucked----but it's over now and I'm recovering nicely. I don't know if the worst part of it all was the pain *or* the waiting in the ER *or* the actual removal of the thorn--------or the 10,000 "pirate jokes" my husband made about my eye patch all weekend.

and OMG about the thorn. I was cringing reading it too. I sure hope you are feeling better now, that sounds so painful.

Oh wow, that sounds terrible. Glad to hear you are doing better! I think having an eyepatch and pretending to be a pirate would be fun, except for the painful way you got it...

Oh gosh, I am sensitive about my eyes so I know what you mean (dental stuff doesn't get me like eye stuff) Wow, well kudo's to you for dealing with it all.

Someone generally has to hold me down to put eyedrops in my eye. I have that same "thing" with people touching my eyes!! Glad you are doing better, despite the pirate jokes! Husbands are so helpful, aren't they?

Hey Kelly, just catching up on some threads. That sounded really scary getting a thorn in the eye! That would freak anyone out! I hope it heals as good as new and that the pirate jokes Shy makes are funny. It least it wasn't from too much chocolate cookie dough ice cream.

Some advice

Go up to your husband and tell him that since you are the one wearing the eye patch, that makes you captain, then hand him a litter scoop and order him to go find some "buried treasure" with his "shovel."
