There are so many scenes in movies that just give you the most amazing emotional rush - be it happiness, sadness, despair, thrill etc.

I remember from being little Mum always used to rave about the scene in Star Wars where they make the switch to light speed and the Millenium Falcon would go zipping off into the distance with the whole blurry stars and so on.

I was watching Bruce Almighty recently when one scene in particular cracked me up so much I had to take my Ventolin!! It's the scene where he is making the newsreader speak total gibberish on air - I almost died I laughed so hard.

Having started this thread now I can't actually think of what my all time favourite movie scene is - but I will!!

What comes to mind for you?

The part in the colt when Jim rescues the colt and the mair from the rush water currents, And there was about a 5 second silence before the soldier hiding in the trees shot Jim in the back. But those 5 minutes made you think omg whats going to happen.

Also a part from the colt when a confederate soldier shot Jim's friend and stole the colt and Jim shot the guy and even though Jim shot him the guy wanted him to stay until he dies and bury him and write his sister telling her of his death. Jim says "You know that was my friend you killed back there" the other guy says something and then Jim says "You kill my friend, and then steale my horse and yet you expect me to bury you?"...he does.
Also theres parts when soldiers on both sides of the war exchange stories of their childhood and family...like they were old friends and there was no war

One movie that comes to mind that has so many classic scenes...

Monty Python and the Holy Grail....

..when they come up to the castle. First one of the soliders asks them about the coconuts. "It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut." And then "I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries."

And also the part where King Arthur fights the Black Knight... "What are you going to do? Bleed on me?"

Also can't forget... "Bring out your dead!"

What a great movie.. I think I shall go watch it!

My favourite movie scene is about the last 20 minutes of Schindler's List, hands down. Makes me bawl my eyes out every time because it's so overwhelmingly emotional.
It's also my favourite movie of all time.

One of my fave movie scenes is from the movie "Sideways". Its where two of the characters sit and discuss wine with each other, but really they are using the wine as an analogy of themselves....it's an incredible and poignant scene.

Movin' on up!
The most romantic movie scene is from "Gone With Wind": Rhett sweeps Scarlett up into his arms and carries her up that magnificent staircase.

Best fight scene: the mud fight in "McClintock".

Funniest scene: the Baby Ruth, in the pool - "Caddyshack".

Best farewell: Bogie and Bergman, in "Casablanca".

I will go with the first one that popped into my head when I saw the thread title: the splashdown scene in Apollo 13. The raw emotion, the triumph, and the fact that it was real are so moving to me.

Schindler's List was another great example.

Just about anything from "Holy Grail," that movie is just so full of great lines: "Run away!"

One of my current favorites us from Pirates of the Caribbean where Cap'n Jack is making his entrance, standing proud on the mainmast spar of his ship, and then the camera pulls back and his "ship" is a leaky fishing boat which makes a most amazing entrance into the harbor where it sinks in perfect timing next the dock. Love that movie

some of my fav movie scenes are:

Airplane: where he's dancing to "staying alive" and the girl scouts are fighting

Pushing Tin: the ending when he's singing to her over the radio ...awww

The matrix: anytime Trinity is kicking butt

I also love anything about the old 80's movies like Cannonball run and the like. I loved Cannonball!...my fav parts were will Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin dressed up as priests driving a Ferarri!

Oh! Oh! Oh! Old movies! The Court Jester with Danny Kaye! The "knighting" scene I guess it is and also the "Flagon with the Dragon holds the Brew that is True and the Potion with the Poison is in the Vessel with the Pestle.." I've got to see if I can find a copy of that movie, I haven't seen it in years and it used to be one of my faves.

I absolutely love the movie White Christmas. I know it by heart. DH refuses to watch it with me unless it is just before Christmas but it's really not a Christmas movie, it's just set around Christmas I explain over and over! Anyway my favorite scene is one of the dance scenes in there to the song called Mandie. I also love yet bawl every time I watch Sweet Home Alabama when she is in the coon dog cemetary talking to her old dog. Oh I could cry right now!

Some old western, can't remember the name, but it had Lee marvin and they were messing with some old, sweaty dynamite, and in the back-ground a horse raised it's tail and deposited about 25 pounds of political speech.

It was sort of off from the center of the scent being filmed, but I laughed at it.

First tear jerker - The bit at the end of ghost where she sees Sam for the first time with all the stars and lights - that I find incredibly moving and when its my time, I would love to think that was what I would see.

My second tear jerker has to be - the very end of Miracle on 34th Street, the one with Attenborough. When the little girl gets up in the morning and santa has been and then sees the light twinkling and sees her mum wearing a wedding ring. Then he comes up and tells her - that they have something to tell her - ie they got married and her wish came true - wanting a dad for christmas. Would love that to be my wish for Christmas - my son and Carol.

I have been known to cry at free willy, stepmom, father of the bride 1 and 2 - Carol and I loved that - but them top two always hit home for me. Tissues galore and if anyone asks - I had some grit in my eye!!

There was a film made years ago, it had to be as authentic and real as possible and went back to cave and early man. Anyway, the whole film was shot in caves etc, outfits of leather made and it all went brilliant. The pundits said it was an excellent film, as true to life as possible - even as far as the computers used to create the dinosaurs for realism etc. Then - at the opening night, everyone was there and watching the film, when the director had the projectionist stop the film, rewind and there, accross the blue sky in pre-historic time - was a jet and its vapour trail scratching its way accross the sky. No one had noticed. Priceless if you ask me.

The Last of the Mohicans (Starring Daniel Day Lewis & Madeleine Stowe)... anyone remember that one? It's a cult classic about the French/Indian war.

Anyhoo I watch it so often, my tape is worn out and I refuse to by the DVD cuz they cut out all the good Celtic music.

My favorite scene of this movie:
The very end, known as the "cliff scene"; there are NO words. Just the same incredible music being played, the hunt, the lovers' suicides, and finally the embrace of the stars of the movie at the end.

I think I'll watch it again tonight!

I only have ever purchased a few movies (tho I've dled a few more!!). Call me a hopeless romantic but here goes (my favs that come to mind off the top of my head):

- Almost any scene in Love Story!!
- When Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks finally have that aha moment in You've Got Mail
- When Julia Roberts goes back to the uppity women in thr shops on Rodeo Drive (in Pretty Woman) and pts out they should have paid attention to her.
- When Goldie Hawn goes back to the new guy and the kids in Overboard
- When John Nash wins the Nobel in A Beautiful Mind

There are others - these come to mind. I like happy endings and injustice being overcome!

Ah, to my shame, one of my favorite movie scenes is from A Cinderella Story (I'm 22!!! :p) It's where Sam and Austin are dancing in the gazebo. The music is just beautiful (a sort of acoustic version of Edwin McCain's Time of Your Life) and there's candles and flowers everywhere so its really romantic. He bends down to kiss her while they're dancing, but she's too shy and pulls away, and he just offers her his hand again to dance again. What a gentleman!

I love the scene in Diggstown when Louis Gossett is getting beaten in the boxing match, and James Woods gives the villan's boxer the thumbs down sign, and he just falls over.
Another scene in that movie is another of my favorites, when James Woods is getting out of prison, and the other cons watching him leave comment on him not even getting a kiss from the beautiful woman picking him up. It's kind of risque' not suitable for some of our younger members, so you adults will have to see the movie. It's hilarious!
