My boyfriend breeds Himalayans and he has a male that does not want to breed. He's about 3 years old and in perfect health and the vet doesn't have an answer. Does anyone know why he wouldn't want to breed, even when the female is all over him when she's in heat? Thanks! Arina

Unfortunately, himmies may be slower to start breeding..and some of them are SOO used to being house pets, they do not develop the *urge*

Your boyfriend might want to check on the pedigree. How slow the line is.
Personally, I would not keep such a boy in a breeding program as slow to mature may be passed to offspring.

I've heard of boys who matured at 4 or later. My cutoff time is 2 years old. After that, I pet the boy out.

Kind of strange....my first male, and second too were ready by the time that they were a year old. Only once in many, many years did either of them fail to perform, and that time the lady was mistaken about her girl cat being in heat!!
