Just a zoom groom is not enough for a persian. They get a lot of mats. There are detangle combs for sale in Petsmart, those are good.

I never thought they'd do well on my long haired cat - but suprisingly it gets alot of fur out of him and he doesn't seem to think I am torturing him like he does with a brush or a comb.

I read this thread and went and got a Zoom Groom for myself. HOLY COW!!! I can't believe I have a cat left after that. I have a short haired cat, and I brush him 3-4 times a week, including last night. I got so much hair off him with the Zoom Groom I had to take a shower and change clothes.

LOL, I had to vacuum after the first one. Now the one gal who could care less about being combed is begging for it each morning.

The zoom groom hardly touches the dead fur on my persian's. And they don't care for it. But I think it's just a fluke that they don't care for it. They're weird! Definately still need a comb and a regular brush if you have persian's with full coats and want to keep them mat free.

Well my cats must be weird too then!
They don't care for the Zoom Groom either (well Chester, Piper and Ariel don't, I'm not sure about Nala, I haven't tried brushing her with it yet).
