Of all the cats I had as a kid I think I was responsible for naming almost all of them!

Tigger: from Winnie the Pooh
Muggins: A neighbours dog had the same name and I liked it
Runty: She was the smallest of the litter (the runt)
Reilly: My boyfriend named him...because it's a good Irish name!

Hmmm...
Rusty is named after a Souther Gospel Singer, Rusty Goodman
Babycakes.....she's just too cute, and the name just fits
YumYum is named after the Siamese in The Cat Who series of books
Rurnt....well, she's just spoiled rotten
Hef-cat is actually Mr. Blue Snuggles.......he's a bluepoint and he was very snuggly as a kitten

Tigs is tiger striped
Gizmo.....I don't know....for some reason it just fits, lol!

Ace: We didn't pick his name; we adopted him as an adult. His nickname is Grumpybutt, though.
Pepsi: I liked the sound of the name.
Skittles: He's so sweet, but such a spaz ... the name just suits him.
Ozzy: We didn't pick his name. Shawn's sister found him at the side of the road as a tiny kitten. It was Friday the 13th, and he is a completely black cat (pads, whiskers, gums, and coat), so she named him after Ozzy Osbourne. Then, of course, she abandoned him at our house. :p

Not very original, but DH and i are both Calvin & Hobbes fanatics.
DH seemed to believe that (our) Hobbes has the characteristics of Hobbes the tiger (from the strip). And it's funny cos Hobbes has this buddy tiger and we had to name it Calvin. Here they are...

This is one of my favorite moments captured.

Thanks!!!
And nowadays his new nickname is either Brute or Fatboy.
We like to tease him a lot.
He responds to the names sometimes lol.

This is the most adorable kitten picture I've ever seen! (Please don't let my three know I said that!)

Katie and Gracie are cute little girl names I've always loved. Peter's named for a boy I had a crush on in the third grade (saw him recently - turned out cute - married with three children) and for the saint.

Oh, my Hobbester, that's got to be the cutest pic I've ever seen!

Well, we (mostly "I", the DH really doesn't have too much to do with it, although he'll be quick to tell me he doesn't like a name!) go to books for ours. Melichus was named after an evil wizard in "The Face in the Frost" --- and that turned out to be a misnomer as he turned out to be the most loving, cuddly monster; Narsil and Mithril are both from "Lord of the Rings" (Mithril is the rare silver metal and Narsil was the name of the sword that cut the Ring from Sauron's finger.) Kellie da Peke's "whole" name (which I got to pick out) is WestBay's Tequila Sunrise, I just thought it was appropriate since her sire is CH Carr's Jack Daniels LOL, started out trying to do "Dawn" for a call name ("Tequila Sunrise," get it
?) but it never stuck. Kellie just seems to fit her better.

Basia is named after a Polish jazz-pop singer that was popular in the late 80's and early 90's. Dubya has our President's nickname because we brought him home on Election night 2000. Jewel already had her name from the local Humane Society when we adopted her. Tiger is named for her stripes that look very tiger-like.

We all have to agree on a name at our house before it's official and we all agreed that Bijou had "jewels" for eyes and the name Bijou fit a boy better than "Jewel". My husband was lukewarm at first but was outvoted my me and our daughter so it stuck. Now he says he is glad we chose it.

One of his suggestions was "Lyle"!
Like that was gonna fly!! NOT

I am a huge fan of tennis player Marat Safin. He also was recently voted sexiest tennis player in the world. So when I got my kitty, and he was so gorgeous, I named him Marat. He is a smart kitty too, learning his name in only a few days. That does not mean however he obeys, only that he knows his name. He is still a cat after all.

barnaby was a rescue cat so he was already named when we got him,and the brothers where named ronnie and reggie after the kray twins,we called them that as they where not very well behaved when they where little
lots of mischeif n mayhem when they where babaies, like every morning id find a dead frog in my kitchen where they had raided my neighbours pond, and one day i went to moves the *dead frog* and it leapt up frightning the daylights outta me
we have had birds living and dead in the kitchen.and both of them had collars with 2 bells on each, and they still caught birds (deaf birds maybe??)
but they have bothe grown up to be handsome kitties

Bartholomew was my beloved kitty who died at 16...just before I adopted Dexter & Sadie. How did I pick their names? They seemed to name themselves. The names just popped into my head & that was it.

Oh here we go....

Elmo - His show name is Tickle Me Elmo. We called him this because he is red!

Benja - We brought him when he was eight months old and he was being called "Bear" we had already had a cat called Bear so we wanted a similar name.

Holly & Sophie - These two sisters were named after singers, Holly Valance & Sophie Ellis Bexter

Muffin - I had always wanted a cat called Muffin and well since she is white, she suits it!

Bridget - In keeping inline with our "human" kitty names, we called her Bridget after Bridget Jones.

Lonestar - He was an only kitten and Lonestar is the name of my favourite restaurant.

Tucker, my first-from the very beginning he liked to talk, so while thinking of names of men who were known for what they spoke, his name just came to me..the guy who built those old cars..maybe not a great speaker, but an innovator.
Mini's markings are so similar to Tucker's, she is like a Mini version of him. Plus I kind of liked the retro British feel, she is a chic, sleek little girl!
Skyler's eyes are so blue, they rival the sky. It's like he wears small pieces of a beautiful blue sky..
