This is basically a slap on the wrist or not even!

A district judge ordered Zimmerman to pay more than $300 in fines, restitution and costs.

But Zimmerman told officials that he couldn't afford the fines and did not want to go to jail.
So he didn't have to!!!!

At least the sign he has to hold should say "I am an animal abuser!"

So he kills a helpless animal and THIS is the judge's idea of justice? Pathetic!

::censor::censor::censor:: Awfully light sentence for premeditated murder!! I wish the law valued animals more. He got off easier than a jaywalker would.

I dont understand why they dont put these to work cleaning cages at animal shelters, helping build better enclosures at zoos, cleaning police horse stalls etc

What a scumbag.

And that's the best punishment that the Humane Officer could think up??? Well, I hope that the community service is the disposal and clean-up detail at the animal shelter AND the county morgue - it shouldn't be considered "cruel and unusual punishment" since the creep doesn't mind the horrifics of neglecting and then murdering a dog by strangulation. I mean, after all, if he was squeamish, he'd've used a less gruesome method.....I hope that the townspeople go up in arms about this one....Poor dog!

So he couldn't afford the money he should at least have spent time in jail. This is so wrong.

I agree that he should at least hold a sign that says something like "I am an animal abuser and animal abuse is illegal and wrong, throw rotten veggies at me!!" or something of that sort. What a jerk.

He didn't want to go to jail. Wah. I'm sure his dog didn't want to be strangled! What an injustice!!!

That is nuts! Hold up a sign for one day!?! I wonder if that works for other crimes with this judge. "Yeah, I commited rape, but I don't want to go to jail and I can't afford the fine!" So they are let off with a one day fake punishment?

Its a shame that this is whats considered justice. Murder is murder, be it animal or human. and someone should remind that judge that many many murders..START with animals. Its a small step from one mammal to another.

Just like on all the animal cops shows! They injure or kill an animal and pay a small fine and go out to do it again!

I think HE ought to be strangled to death.

I don't know if this is the same story or not, but he went out to an intersection with the sign and was supposed to stay for 8 hours, but he was abused so much by passing motorists that he was allowed to leave early. He should have stayed for 8 hours, IMO.
