One last update...i just got a call, and it was Velcro's owner. He got out mid last week - and they just live one street over! He apparently likes to hang by the door and dart.

I mentioned microchipping and neutering as being two things to consider asap
They are calling the no-kill and going up to get him (I assume) today.

I hope I don't see him out and about again, but if I do, I'll know what street to walk up and down with him!

I can't believe this day...first a ??stray or outdoor only whole young male mixed breed got attacked by one of the indoor/outdoor cats that lives on this block - in my backyard. Picture a woman flying out her back door in her purple nightgown yelling "cut that out right now!". It worked, but of course, mr. ittybitty blue as I call him dashed off. I've been feeding him since Velcro showed up - he'd gently push Velcro out of the way and go for the food, but he won't allow hands on at all.

Three hours later, what do I hear? Velcro, yelling at me to let him in, at "his spot" near my back window. I popped him a carrier and went to find his owners since I now know they live one block over. Found them as their other bengal was sitting on their doorstep.

Argh. He is certainly Mr. Sociable. He is now fixed and microchipped though..good things to find out.

His owners sound absolutely cluless. He keeps on escaping, one of these days he won't come back to them. Now apparently they let both of their bengal cats out? What exactly are they thinking? These cats will be history soon, especially considering they are purebred bengals.

They seem to be trying..he now has a collar, and they have a leash outside they attach him to (very long) for him to have some outside time...he simply follows the kids out.

I don't know why the other one was outside, but they are looking to place her as she's not as laid back and gentle with the kids as Velcro is. I suggested a web search for Bengal rescue groups that take owner surrenders as being a good way to find her an appropriate (used to Bengals) new home.

They might be trying.
But their cat escaped just a little while ago, was taken by you into the shelter, they had to go and get him. What if a person not so caring (such as yourself) took him to a kill shelter, or harmed him? Yet, just a few days later, here he is again. They obviously didn't take any steps to prevent this cat from escaping their house, or they just allow this cat to roam around. They clearly haven't learned their lesson. This cat will probably meet an unfortunate end soon with owners like these.

I'm not happy about this either, and not sure what I can do about it, except to look out for him. He obviously remembers the way to my house when he's scared and running.

People are just too dumb. They obviously spend all that money on getting this cat, since he is a bengal. And then they just allow this cat to roam free.
What are they thinking? Somebody else finds out this cat might be valuable, and the owners will never see him again.

They do sound very casual - also in the way they are hoping to place hteir female. They obviously don't bond with their cats or consider them part of the family. You don't get rid of a kid because it has a few traits you don't like, and once you have raised a cat, unless it was actually dangerous to itself or another family member I can't imagine doing that either. Finding homes for kittens is something else.

Sounds like they just dumped her outside.
