"Scotty was our darlin' our darlin', our darlin'
Scotty was our darlin'. the starship engineer...'

I was fortunate to have seen Jimmy at a couple of Star Trek cons in St. Louis back in the 80s. My friend Ramona has some especially fond memories of the first con.

He was a swell guy. He lived here locally and the radio stations often interviewed him. He will be missed. This is your last beam up Scotty.

*sigh*

85. I feel so ... old ...

I only ever saw one of the ST-TOS stars (George Takei) purely by accident at my first con, NorEascon II? III? Whatever, back in 1981 I think it was.

I came away from that con feeling rather shell-shocked as I remember.

Sad news. We'll miss you, Scotty. I had the chance to meet him years ago when he was in town promoting the release of one of the Star Trek movies.
Seemed like a very sweet man.

Somewhere I have a book that he autographed at a convention.

How did you like that article on cnn.com where in the one part they quote Doohan as not liking Wm. Shatner? May be the truth, but do you gotta publish that in the guy's obituary?

Movin' on up!
I guess Scotty couldn't squeeze any more power, out of the engines. The evening news said that his ashes will be sent into space, like Gene Roddenberry's.

My favorite line of his was when he was getting drunk, with some alien and they were sampling every exotic liquor, in Scotty's collection. The alien asked, "What's this one?" and Scotty's reply was, "It's green!". That always cracked me up.

Deb, if I'm not wrong (and I have been before, lol) but I've read that quote somewhere in one of his books, or a couple of interviews, one or the other.

I'm sure it more than likely was, but I still don't think it's the time or place to rehash it. How would you like to be Wm. Shatner reading that? And you can't even call up the guy and tell him off.
