Okay I'm going to start this out with the wonderful knowledge that everyone should know by now. WHEN YA GET A MALE PUPPY HE WILL PEE ON THE FRICKIN FLOOR!!!!! It's natural!!!

The other day I was volunteering at the humane society and not only do I socialize with the cats I always play with the puppies. Well there were these two lab puppies and some customers had taken one out. Well I decided to take the other one out and as I was carrying him to the playroom I noticed that the people that had taken the first one out was standing outside another playroom....with no puppy in their arms. So I go up to them and ask "What's going on?" and they responded "Well he peed on the floor and he's walking in it and stuff and we don't want to get pee on us!!" So getting really p***ed off I said "Oh so you just leave him in there instead of going to a staff member and asking for help?!?!?! Oh how SMART!!!! NOT!! Hold him for me!" and I handed the other puppy to them and went into the room to find that the poor puppy had slipped in his pee
Even though I knew that I was gonna get pee on me I still carried him back to his kennel and took the other puppy..played with him for a bit then put him back. I just could not BELIEVE that those people were just leaving him in there without notifying anyone!!! They can't even use the excuse "Well the front desk is too far away!" because it's right next door!!!

Ah, the joys of dealing with stupid people. Get used to it sweetheart, and be sure to remember that you can learn tolerance and tact from this volunteer experience - Lord knows you'll need them.

And how do we grow our muscles? by using them.
I know how frustrated you are, believe me - I haven't got much patience for stupid people either, but I've gotten really, really good at biting my tongue - wanna see the scars?????

OMG, Que Horror puppy pee oh help me, I am so stupid I think I might melt it I get any of it on me. Oh Phuleeze!! If you are so worried about a little puppy pee then those dummies need to go get a girbil or better yet a stuffed animal. Dear God sometimes I dispair of the Human Race. All I can think of is if we were created in God's, image well he must have been having a really bad day.

Oh and here's another good one!!!

We just recently had a kitten shower and I had to deal with one of the STUPIDEST VOLUNTEERS!!! She kept scaring all our customers away!!! Seriously I thought my jaw was going to fall off I kept dropping it!! When someone would come up and say they wish they could have a cat but can't because of allergies she would be like "Oh well I'm deathly allergic but I have 13 cats and take Zyrtec!!" (Last time I checked Zyrtec was for depression..........) So then the person would just like walk away. And there was this couple petting one of our cats and she was like "I hope you plan on getting her because you're giving her attention and it will break her heart if you don't take her with you!!" On the far right corner...you see me smacking my forehead. Plus there was this really lazy cat there that's like a cat who's great for like elderly people. When people asked about her here's what I said, "This is Stars she's not a very active cat, not real hyper, perfect for the elderly who just want a friend to sit on their lap all day." Here's what my partner said "This is Stars she's lazy." If I didn't leave and go to a different booth..I would have killed her.

No sweets, Zyrtec IS for allergies - Zoloft is for depression, among other things, as is Prozac.

What a frightening thought that pet-adoption-counselors aren't more available....As for your "stupid volunteer" may be she needs a mentor (hopefully a trained adoption counsellor) because it sounds like she's got the idea that she needs to be "selling"
(although, her comments about Stars indicate she'd need a salesmanship-course, too
). The bad part about selling is that it encourages people to adopt on the basis of emotional reaction (notice how the "star" of an exciting media-story gets flooded with offers of adoption, versus the everyday pets languishing in shelter cages).
And then you get the people like you first described, the ones who have no experience with animals, and don't quite realize that pets aren't toys; they don't have an on/off switch; they have really physical and emotional needs; they have bodily functions
- you get my drift....so, bottom line, here's to you & folks like you, who do your rescue/shelter work, not for the glory, the recognition, BUT FOR THE KITTIES!! ON BEHALF OR THE KITTIES & THE PUPS, I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH, but I'll try anyway -

Oh, I understand completely. When I volunteer for my humane society we have lots of fun stuff like that happen. I just try to do *my* best and ignore the other ppl as much as possible...

... and then go home and rant to anyone who will listen.
