Sheesh, what a thing for my 700th post to be about
...

Somebody tell me please that there IS a coffeemaker out there that does not come with a "dribble carafe?" We just bought this coffeemaker to replace this one which we've had less than 3-4 months. In that time it's just about destroyed the countertop finish on the baker's rack that I use for a coffee center as there is absolutely NO way you can pour the thing without dribbling.

And the new Delonghi is not much better.

Don't product designers make prototypes of this stuff anymore? I mean they look good, but they're practically unusable without causing a huge mess. I think they've forgotten the cardinal "form follows function" and are going for form over function.

I really didn't want to spend a huge amount on a coffeemaker, but it looks like there's a Krups or some such in our future as I've already spent $60 on these that I can't really use.

Time to go a-froogling ...

i tell you what.
I go and buy the cheap ones and i never have problems with it!
My MIL just bought a new one last week also as her lid broke but then again shes had her for years and it costs about 70 euros.

Ive bought a toasted and kettle both for under 10 euros and they work like a marve!

Edit: My dad just bought a new espresso machine because he thought that the saeco one wasnt working properly anymore.
So we asked to have it and my dad was fine with it, we just needed to clean it thoroughly and take all the kalk off and now it works better than his new one!

My last two have been Krups. I had the 1st one for about 5-6 yrs.
Do you have the store called Tuesday Morning? That is where I got my last Krups-and it was only $40.

Yah, but I thought $30USD was cheap! I don't think I'm going to take a chance on another one, 'cause then I'd have close to $100 invested in coffeemakers that I can't use
. Maybe I should start a coffeemaker collection ...

Cindy, try finding a Thermal Carafe coffeemaker. I have Mr. Coffee's and I love, love LOVE it!!!! Has drip-interrupt and a timer (as well as a self-clean feature that I'm not sure about) but the cool thing is it's just like the restaurant carafes, you can release the button as you pour, and !voila!, no dribbles!!

Not only that, but it keeps the coffee hot-hot for 4 hrs, drinkable for 6, and because there's no heating element, the coffee doesn't get that nasty burnt smell to it, or get cold, because there's no need for auto-shutoff.

I have a Proctor-Silex that I think I bought at Wal-mart. I know it was less than $20, and no dribbling. Of course the sink thing is a good fix, and cheaper.

May look into that RicaLyn. I've examined the carafes in question and I can see why they dribble
I will be examining MOST closely the carafes of coffeemakers when we go shopping.

I mean, I've made pottery, I've studied pottery, a spout is not something you just throw on there and say it'll do!

Fwan, I'll give 'em a look, but since the first one came from Wal-mart, and the second one came from Sam's Club I'm not really happy with those sources at the moment ...

Gail, that's what I'm thinking, Krups or Braun, or some such. Yep, we do have a Tuesday Morning.

Yep, the sink would be cheaper, but at this point I'm p*ssed because this stuff should be made right to begin with. Shouldn't have to "make" it do.

I just got a new Mr Coffee a few weeks ago when the other one refused tow ork any longer - I couldn't put up with the dribble - it was driving me batty - it would dribble when putting the water in the back, it would dribble when pouring coffee into a cup. ACCK! We broke down and did some reasearch and found one at linens and things that had good ratings a cuisinart - IT IS AWESOME - not a spilled drop:
