Hi

My 1yr old cat has been very anxious for a while now, he has always been a little anxious since we got 2 new family memebers(cats).

They all get on great but for the past few weeks he has become so much more anxious and we dont know how to help him.

He keeps urinating outside litter box(after he has already been in there to use it), it is always in the same corner of the room.

We always give him plenty of love and attention and always speak calmly to him to keep him relaxed, but this doesnt really change anything, We are very worried about this behaviour.

Also, what can I put down, that wont stink the house out, to deter him from urinating outside litter box.

Thanks

Sarah

PS There is nothing wrong with the litter box at all as he does use it.

No health issues ruled out by a vet? there is a stuck thread in this forum about inappropriate peeing that will give you ideas as to what to try.

Have you taken him to a vet after he started urinating, and described the vet his problem? After which the vet should have obtained a urine sample and analyzed it. Just because the cat has been declared healthy at some time prior to him starting urinating outside the box, doesn't mean he still is healthy. When cats are stressed, as this one is because of 2 new cats, they can easily develop all kinds of problems. My cat was fine one day, then got stressed out and developed urinary problems. It's very possible the same thing has happened to your cat and he needs to be seen by a vet.
Urinary prolbems are a very serious deal, especially in male cats. They can get blocked and if they are blocked, they can die. The major cause of urinary problems is stress. And cats can be stressed by every little thing.
