question in regard to large breed of european feline

My boyfriend was wondering about a specific breed of large feline that had its orgin out of europe. He said that the only ones hes ever seen were the color of black and white and that they were very large animals. Any idea of what they might be?

It may be the Norwegian Forest Cat. An adult male weighs 14-16 pounds, and the females weigh 8-12 pounds. They come in all colors though. Resembles the Maine Coon, but has a straight profile and a triangular head.
