I'm sure it smells disgusting, but any internal bodily fluid like that will have a horrible odor - the bile in their vomit is also a component of fecal matter.

the first time i saw a hair ball i was in awe! I had no idea what it was and i thought she ate something fuzzy at first...it was black and so tightly knotted together....plus was mixed in with food and fluids...but yea i'd say a hair ball more than likely...do you have any hairball medicine?

Yea, hairballs really resemble the other with the shape and size..
I have recently seen some cat "treats" at Petco for hairball treatment, and they look just like a cat treat..
Just a thought..
You are a great person to cat sit, and have love and concern for this pet...

If you're talking about the one on her back--she sleeps like that, and i interupted her precious nap time when i snapped that picture!! The 2nd one she just happened to be still while i grabbed my camera! thank you for the compliment!!!

P.S. She looks sweet and all but she has more attitude than a room full of PMS-ing women!!

Billy has some nasty, rank smelly hairballs, but to my surprise, CJ's are small, look like fur, and don't smell all that bad. Weird huh?
Just more good news for me!

Sometimes if you put in on their paw or on their nose, they'll lick it off. Just put a little bit on at a time, though, or they'll shake it on to the floor. If he continues to throw up, you might want to call his vet and describe his symptoms. Mine often throw up around the same time as they cough up the hairball.
